Denon Electronics announced the new DN-T645 CD/Cassette combination deck, offering the latest in professional compact disc playback features, as well as updated cassette record and playback functions. The new unit combines highlights of Denon's high-quality CD and cassette features along with flexible routing and external control options to produce a comprehensive all-in-one unit.

The DN-T645 offers a host of front-end playback options needed for today's multiple compact disc formats. The advanced CD mechanism is able to support playback of CD and CD-R/RW formats, as well as new MP3 file playback from a compact disc. The compact disc player features Single and Continuous playback modes, and offers Program Play (up to 99 tracks) and 3 repeat modes (Single Track, All Tracks, A-B) for continuous playback, as well as Random mode playback. An 11 key Direct Track Select keypad and rotary Track Select knob are provided for direct track access and programmability, while Frame Search and Back Cue functions dial in on select program passages. Pitch Change of up to 12% is also available for playback and the CD player also features a full 10 seconds of Shock Proof Memory for ultimate reliability against vibration.

The cassette record and playback functions also feature Denon's most advanced cassette mechanism and sound enhancement options. Dolby B/C Noise Reduction is provided, as well as the Dolby HX-Pro Headroom Extension System for optimal audio clarity in both playback and recording situations. The REC Input source is switchable between internal CD (with CD deck synchronized recording) and external line input (XLR Balanced or RCA Unbalanced), and can be combined with the integrated Mic Input section. A Mic Record mode selector switch (OFF/LINE/REC) allows the mic input signal (1/4" T/R/S) to be monitored and mixed in with or without being recorded, and can be adjusted via Manual or Auto Gain control. Furthermore, the DN-T645 offers cueing enhancements such as Memory Rewind (Return To Zero) and Full-Logic Auto Reverse featuring a two motor quick reverse mechanism. Playback speed of cassette material may also be altered up to 12%.

The DN-T645's operational controls are accessible via the front panel, or through several supported remote control interface options including Serial D-Sub 9 pin (RS-232C/422A*) and Stereo Mini Jack along with Fader Start and command control via a Parallel (25P D-Sub) GPI remote port. RCA In/Out Remote Control terminal Jacks are also provided (ideal for synchro recording to Denon's DN-780R dual cassette recorder), as well as an Infrared (IR) Remote sensor. The DN-T645 features both RCA and XLR (switchable between Balanced/Unbalanced) input jacks, RCA and XLR Output Jacks, and a unique XLR Mono Output switch that gives the option of +18dBu (CD) and +4dBu (Tape) mono output from the unit's respective Left channels or -10dBu mono output (CD and Tape) from the unit's respective Right channels. This allows the user to select the DN-T645's output depending on the application, i.e. house feed (Left channel +18dBu mono and +4dBu mono ) or distributed sound (Right channel -10dBu mono ). The unit also features a coaxial SPDIF digital output and a headphone output with level control with switchable monitoring between separate and combined source signals. A Cascade In/Out terminal set can be used to link several DN-T645's together for extended continuous play. A Relay Playback function can be used for continuous play between compact disc and cassette decks, and a Power On Playback function can be used for automatic playback at a specified time when using an external timer.

The DN-T645 comes housed in a standard 3R unit with an attractive aluminum front panel with independent FL tube displays for both CD and cassette decks. Available options include the RC-U620 handheld IR remote, the RC-41 wristwatch IR remote, and the RC-620 wired remote.

The Denon DN-T645 will be available 4th Quarter 2002, for a suggested list price of $750.00.

(Remote interfaces for the DN-T645 with RS-232C/422A control will also be available separately from AMX or Crestron.
