Among the new bass product offerings for Winter NAMM 2003, Yamaha Guitars is showcasing the TRB6JP2 John Patitucci Signature electric bass. The TRB6JP2 replaces the TRB6JP and features an upgraded preamp, 26 frets, 35-in. scale and new color options.

Named after the renowned bassist, the TRB6JP2 (MSRP $2,999.99) features a custom sculptured body, 6-string bolt-on neck, active electronics, custom inlay and gold hardware, and showcases a distinctive lower-bout "slap cut" for custom leverage.

Construction features include a 5-ply Maple/Mahogany neck and Ebony fingerboard with 26 frets, a 7-ply exotic hardwood body, gold plated bridges and tuners. Available finishes include Amber and Translucent Red.

Considered one of the top acoustic and electric jazz bassists today, John Patitucci is know for a unique combination or speed, tone and versatility. His playing credits include Tom Scott, Robben Ford, Stan Getz, Larry Carlton, Dave Grusin, Ernie Watts, Freddie Hubbard and others--in addition to Yamaha artist Chick Corea--with whom he was a regular member of both the "Elektric" and "Akoustic" bands. His solo albums include Now (1998), Imprint (2000) and Communion (2001).
