Music Nomad's Open Studio site quickly connects musicians and rehearsal studios nationwide

Since the website OpenStudio launched this summer it has quickly become the #1 site dedicated to helping musicians find hourly and monthly rehearsal studios across the US.

Rand Rognlien, Chief Musician's Advocate at Music Nomad noticed a trend not long ago. Twenty percent of the musicians utilizing the encyclopedic information at Music Nomad were looking for studio space. Inquiries were from touring bands as well as garage bands looking to get out of the garage.

Recognizing a true need, Rognlien developed Open Studio, a new live application that launched in May at http://openstudio.musicnomad.com

"We have over 260 studios listed on our site." remarked Rognlien."And we've researched every one to make sure it's a legitimate business. Some studios are listed on sites like craigslist or MySpace, but we're the only site that goes the extra step to insure musicians are dealing with reputable companies."

"Musicians search for studios by simply typing in their zip code. They can also sort by studio cost, availability, & distance from their home. You can view pictures of studios and rooms along with contact info, hours of operation, backline offered and other services they may offer like a recording studio.²

They have also built in a waiting list feature where musicians can sign up to be emailed when new rooms in their zip code become available or a particular studio they want to play has an available room. This is particularly helpful when bands are trying to find monthly rehearsal space, which can be hard to find in major cities.

"There are over four thousand rehearsal spaces in Southern California alone running at about 95% occupied." marvels Rognlien.
