  • Michael Lewis Guitars Picks Elixir® Strings For Its New Line of Electric Guitars

    By Guest |

Built by master luthiers at Southbound Custom (builders for Gibson and for Gruhn Guitars), Michael Lewis Guitars' new line features four models: the Pro 1, Pro 1T, Pro 35 and Panther, all designed to withstand the rigors of extended play either in the studio or on stage. Each element of the guitars was carefully selected by Lewis — including the strings. All four models feature either electric Light or Medium gauge Elixir Strings with NANOWEB® Coating. After four years of vigorously testing many different brands of strings, it became obvious to Lewis that Elixir Strings were the best choice for his new line of guitars. "I was a session player in Nashville for 12 years and during that time, if I was doing sessions all day, at the end of the day my guitar sounded dead," says Lewis. "There were even times when I would play 11 shows in 13 days. With Elixir, I could get away with this kind of string torture and still sound good because Elixir always has a fresh, crisp sound. The tonal resonance of my guitars requires a string that will really bring out its rich, harmonic overtones without having to change the set of strings after each use. I knew that I could rely on Elixir for a great guitar sound that would remain consistent after several days and numerous sessions." In addition to playability, Elixir Strings help to highlight the uniqueness of the design of this new line. A standout feature is the guitars' resonant tone. This was created by building the inside of the guitar using principles of studio acoustics. "I have not found any other brand of strings that really enables the harmonic color to come to life like Elixir does," continues Lewis. "I want the guitar to sound great before it's even plugged in, and no other string I've tried comes close to Elixir in terms of really enabling you to hear the instrument."
