Sony Electronics' new MB-X6 tuner base represents a cost-effective, multi-channel wireless system management option for bands, live theater, corporate A/V, schools and houses of worship. This single rack space tuner frame provides slots for up to six plug-in tuner units, providing a significant space savings configuration for a wide range of wireless applications.

"The MB-X6 Tuner Base is an easy to configure, 1U high, 19-inch rack unit designed to meet the real world needs of live audio productions," said Paul Foschino, senior manager for professional audio in Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Production Systems Division. "It's a fast, efficient, cost effective tool for setting up and managing multiple multi-channel needs."

The MB-X6 tuner base unit includes:

  • Six slots for either the WRU-806B or URX-M1 Plug-in Tuner module
  • Modular Design, 1U High 19-inch rack unit
  • Auto channel assignment function - each tuner sequentially searches selected group for free channel
  • Two passive antennas


The Sony MB-X6 is planned to be available in March at a suggested list price of $850.

  • Provides diversity output for up to four tuners
  • Two pairs of antenna input connectors for up to four AN-820A antennas to expand the operating area of a wireless microphone system
  • Cascade output can be used for an additional antenna divider or receiver/tuner Base unit


The 850A Antenna Divider is available at a suggested list price of $1,850.
