D&M Professional, manufacturer of the renowned Marantz Professional line of recording products, has led the industry in professional field recording solutions for decades. The Marantz Professional PMD series of Solid State Recorders and its innovative CDR420 Portable CD Recorder offer a wealth of fully featured, portable options for electronic news gathering/electronic field production (ENG/EFP). These products have answered the call for extreme sonic integrity combined with absolute reliability, and include a wide array of convenient, easily accessible functions designed for efficient operation in time-critical situations.

The versatile PMD660, PMD670 and PMD671 Solid State Recorders provide digital solutions for today's most challenging field recording environments. These units all record to dependable, cost-effective Compact Flash cards, extending the benefit of no moving parts.

Marantz Professional's PMD660 Solid State Recorder features battery-operated, 'handheld' operation. The unit offers a choice of recording uncompressed WAV files at 44.1 or 48 kHz, as well as 64 kbps mono or 128 kbps stereo in MP3 format. An optional 1 GB flash card holds over an hour of stereo or 3 hours mono of uncompressed audio, while the unit itself can operate for 4 hours running on 4 standard AA batteries. Furthermore, the PMD660 has built-in stereo microphones, XLR connectors with +48V phantom power, and is compatible with an optional RC600 wired remote that attaches to any microphone to supply Record/Pause control, track marking and peak metering from the mic position, allowing a field reporter's full concentration on their work.

The portable PMD670 Solid State Recorder features non-stop record with up to 7 hours of battery life, menu-driven remote operation, and EDL marking system for creating new files on-the-fly during the recording for easy file selection during playback. Built-in lock down panels secure the recording setting switches and media door from accidental changes in the field. The unit has easy one touch recording, MP3, MP2, WAV and BWF format compatibility, along with over 40 assignable quality settings.

For the broadcast professional seeking a portable, high-resolution (24-bit, 96 kHz) recording device, Marantz Professional's PMD671 Solid State Recorder delivers exceptional results. As with other PMD units, the PMD671 runs on standard AA alkaline batteries (approx. 6 hours life). It also features multiple recording modes, long record times, Virtual Third Head (VTH) confidence monitoring, Time-Shift Playback, XLR microphone inputs with +48V phantom power, built-in condenser microphone, USB 2.0 connectivity for ultra-fast file transfer to a PC, and is compatible with an optional RC600 wired remote.

The powerful and flexible CDR420 Portable HD/CD Recorder records 44.1 kHz mono or stereo WAV or MP3 files directly to its internal 20 GB hard drive, enabling instant cut-and-paste field editing. The CDR420 has dual XLR inputs with +48V phantom power as well as a built-in mic, recording filters and 3-band equalizer. CDs can be burned in standard Red Book audio format or in ISO9660 data format containing WAV and/or MP3 files (multiple MP3 bitrates supported). The CDR420 is additionally able to: read and display CD text information; read, display and edit ID3 tags on MP3 files; copy CDs; convert WAV files to MP3; name files and access commands with a standard PS/2 keyboard. An optional RPS420 Rechargeable Battery System is available for the CDR420 to facilitate remote recording or power backup.
