Yamaha has teamed with international rhythm sensation Manu Katche to create a pair of signature snare drums, the 14" x 5.5" SD-455AMK and 14" x 6.5" SD-465AMK (MSRP $999 each).

Scheduled for March delivery and targeted to the professional or semi-professional drummer, both models feature shells constructed of matte black plated Brass, 20-strand snares, Zinc die-cast hoops on the top of the drum, and Aluminum die-cast hoops on the bottom.

"One of the major benefits of a Brass snare drum is that it can be used in just about any musical setting," states David Jewell, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums. "That's very fitting, given the fact that Manu is the kind of drummer who can cross musical genres comfortably. That experience comes across in the design and sound of these signature snares."

Known for seamlessly blending a worldwide variety of styles on a traditional drum set, Katche began doing session work and extensive touring in his native France at age 17. International recognition came with the 1986 Peter Gabriel multi-platinum release So, followed by the Amnesty International, "Secret World" and "Brand New Day" tours with Gabriel and Sting. Katche has also performed and recorded with Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell, Robbie Robertson, Tears for Fears, Dire Straits, Simple Minds, Michael McDonald, Joan Armatrading, Paul Young, and Tori Amos, and has been the drum chair for a number of film soundtracks.

Katche has also lent his vast experience and input to the design of Yamaha's popular Junior Kit drum sets.
