  • K-Sounds Releases Signature Piano for Korg M3

    By Guest |

K-Sounds has released Signature Piano for the Korg M3, featuring detailed samples of a Yamaha C7 grand piano.

Designed with quality in mind, Signature Piano’s sample data was recorded and edited at 176.4kHz, 24 / 32 bits, then converted to M3-compatible specifications for the final product. The stereo image is wide, centered, and mono-compatible. Every note has a generous, natural-sounding sustain.

Signature Piano for the M3 offers three sample banks, all fully programmed in a variety of programs and combinations. The small 63Mb bank offers three velocity layers and can be loaded into any M3, even if the sample RAM expansion is not installed. The medium-sized 107Mb bank provides four velocity layers plus damper resonance. The large 289Mb bank offers six velocity layers with longer samples and additional sampled notes, plus damper resonance, release resonance, hammer noise samples, and multi-dynamic damper noise samples.  No other M3 format piano comes close to this level of detail.

Signature Piano’s damper resonance samples are true recordings of the sympathetic string resonance heard when a piano’s damper pedal is pressed. Sampling the actual resonance of a real piano provides authenticity that surpasses digital effects and convolution. This  resonance is presented as an independent component of the instrument, allowing users to adjust its volume or disable it altogether.

In  addition to a variety of programs, four layer / split combinations are provided. Each one blends the piano with multiple instruments that can be independently activated and disabled during a performance. A keyboardist could begin by playing solo piano, add strings, add electric piano, and then return to solo piano - all without causing a break in the sound! Taking this concept further, additional combinations in the large bank allow users to seamlessly add or subtract different elements from the piano sound. Damper resonance, release resonance, hammer noises, and damper noises can be independently enabled and disabled according to the performer’s musical needs.

Signature Piano is designed to be incredibly playable. It was constantly played during its development to ensure that it responds dynamically and musically.
