    By Guest |

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance is delighted to announce the launch of a brand-new fully-funded* Diploma in Contemporary Music course for students of guitar, bass, drums and vocals.

This new course is the ideal pathway for young musicians who aspire to develop a career within the music industry. It provides a unique opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst developing the essential playing, performing and business skills required by the modern musician. Students will learn how to develop and promote their own bands, write, rehearse and perform their own material, all whilst gaining key transferable skills. Alternatively, they will be able to progress onto other further or higher education courses such as the Institute Degree in Popular Music Performance.

The new Diploma course is extremely practical, with weekly live performance and band workshops included in the timetable. In addition to being taught by some of the finest educators and professional musicians in the business, all Institute students are entitled to use the fantastic facilities for practice outside of timetabled hours, free of charge. These include performance and practice studios, acoustic drum practice booths, a fully-equipped iMac technology suite and 24 track recording studio, all equipped with the latest industry-standard gear. The course is 40 weeks in length and commences this September, 2007. Successful graduates will receive a full Level 3 qualification in contemporary music, equivalent to 2 A-levels and a maximum of 240 UCAS points. Applications are being taken now and places are limited.

Pete Whittard, Director at the Institute, said:

"We have been working extremely hard over the last few years to develop this course and we are delighted that it is now fully launched. For the first time, young students of guitar, bass, drums and vocals, who would otherwise have to pay thousands of pounds to study such a course, will have access to the world-class teaching, facilities and industry connections at the Institute. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for students to study on a Diploma course, for free, and gain a nationally-recognised qualification."

If you love creating and performing music, this course is for you. Unleash you own true creative potential and find out what you are capable of as a musician!

*Tuition fees fully funded for students aged 16-18 years. Students will however be required to pay a £300 charge to cover specialist materials and support activities.
