  • Impact Soundworks Releases Acoustic Revolutions Volume 1: Adult Contemporary Guitar Loops

    By Guest |

As the sixth collection in the Impact Soundworks catalog, this newest addition is special in that it was designed, performed and produced by Jimmy "Big Giant Circles" Hinson, prolific TV composer and co-composer for the blockbuster 2010 video game Mass Effect 2.

Impact Soundworks, a joint venture between composers Andrew Aversa and Wilbert Roget, II, was founded in 2007 with the goal of creating innovative, affordable and unique sample libraries "designed with composers in mind."

"Acoustic Revolutions Vol. 1" is the company's first loop-based product, a comprehensive collection of acoustic guitar progressions and chords perfectly suited for adult contemporary music. Stylistically inspired by artists like Vertical Horizon, the Goo Goo Dolls and Dave Matthews, the library allows producers, songwriters and TV composers to instantly evoke a modern acoustic guitar sound with gorgeous recordings and tight performances.

"As a busy TV composer writing hundreds of cues for networks like HGTV, DIY, Food Network and Animal Planet, I've used a ton of loop libraries. They're mostly expensive and inflexible, not to mention nobody has ever sampled this sort of contemporary acoustic sound," said Jimmy Hinson. "So, I decided to do it myself and record the sort of sound that is so commonly used and called for."

"Acoustic Revolutions Vol. 1" contains over 280 carefully-organized loops recorded using a blend of crystal-clear DI and tube mic warmth. The rich, wide and unprocessed tone can be customized by the user to fit any style of music, from pop, soft rock, easy listening or AC to film, TV or game cues. As all loops come in slice-marked WAV format, the sounds can be used in every sequencer, sampler and DAW available.

In performing the library, unique guitar tunings were used that enable chord progressions, voicings and harmonies that are not normally possible with a single guitar. In total, the collection features four common time signatures, multiple keys and tempos, single chord strums, muted chugs, harmonics and bonus processed loops, great for adding rhythmic interest to any piece.

"We're very happy to be working with Jimmy on this release. Loop libraries often have a bad reputation for sloppy editing and poor quality, and we've always wanted to offer one with the same attention to detail as our previous collections," said Andrew Aversa, lead designer for previous smash hit releases like "Shreddage." "And of course, for the price, this one is really a no-brainer for any working composer, songwriter or pop producer!"

"Acoustic Revolutions Volume 1" is available for immediate download via the Impact Soundworks website (www.impactsoundworks.com) for $25, worldwide. A free demo pack of loops is also available for those interested in trying the library before purchasing it.
