Home Recording Boot Camp Heads For The "Big Boot"

In addition to keeping busy as a highly sought-after producer and mixer, Ronan Chris Murphy—widely respected for his work with King Crimson, Steve Morse, Terry Bozzio, Tony Levin, Ulver and many others—has spent the past five years helping fellow engineers learn to improve their craft through his popular Home Recording Boot Camp.

Although Murphy typically hosts these intensive, hands-on courses at his Los Angeles-based studio, Veneto West (http://www.venetowest.com/), he now announces that a very special session has been scheduled to take place from May 4th through 9th at Prosdocimi Recording (http://www.prosdocimirecording.com/) outside of Venice in the Veneto region of Northern Italy.

Located in Carmignano di Brenta—a quaint small town central to Padova, Vicenza, Bassano del Grappa, and many other historic sites—Prosdocimi Recording is a boutique studio built into the private Villa Prosdocimi, which originally served as the country residence of Lord Bissara of Vicenza in the early 17th century.

"Not only will our Home Recording Boot Camp in Italy be a fantastic chance for engineers to hone their skills in the art of recording and mixing, but it's also a spectacular opportunity from a cultural and tourism perspective as well," notes Murphy. "During some of the evenings we will be making satellite trips to historic towns in the area for dinners and a bit of sightseeing, as well as plan to take an optional day excursion to Venice with a private guided tour after the camp's final day."

Due to the special nature of this particular Boot Camp, enrollment is limited to a maximum of five students and the class is expected to fill up quickly. Tuition for the course is $1,100 (USD) if registered before March 4th (or $1,200 by April 4th, and $1,300 if less than 30 days in advance), with half of the fees due at the time of sign-up.

Aside from covering the cost of instruction, the tuition fees are inclusive of home-cooked lunches prepared by the Prosdocimi family, which has called the villa home for over three centuries, as well as Italian wine and other beverages.

"Having recorded in this particular studio before, I honestly can tell you that the home cooked meals there beat the best Italian restaurants in the US," Murphy adds. "Needless to say, this Boot Camp will be an all-encompassing combination of fantastic sound, scenery, food and wine!"

Students wishing to enroll in the Italian program (all instruction is in English) must first undergo a brief telephone interview with Murphy to ensure that the course is a good match.
