Har-Bal International, a joint venture between Australian-based TAQUIS and HDQTRZ Digital Studios in Atlanta, announced the latest release of Har-Bal (Harmonic Balancer) ver. 1.02, a new mastering equalization system for all Windows systems (95,98,ME, NT, 2000 or XP) that is designed to correct inconsistencies in mixed track sound files.

Version 1.02 of the application features:

    • Real Time Track Preview Capability
    • Support for 16,24, 32 bit/96Khz (Dependent on your audio hardware)
    • Actual Loudness Compensation Technology
    • Change the equalization of your tracks without changing the overall volume.

Unlike mixing and EQ'ing on a console, Har-Bal is loudness compensated to maintain the same perceived loudness between filter in and filter out. What you hear in an A/B comparison with Har-Bal is due to EQ alone and not a bias introduced by the fact that the perceived loudness is higher in one.

Without compensating for loudness it is very easy to make EQ mistakes, according to the company. With the approach Har-Bal takes it is much less likely.

You can download a demo version from the Har-Bal web site.
