Groveland Software Labs Releases jazzCittern ModeExplorer
By Guest |
Groveland Software Labs, Inc. has announced the release of the jazzCittern™ ModeExplorer, the latest addition to their family of advanced music theory software. As makers of the highly acclaimed Mando ModeExplorer for mandolin, and the magnachops™ ModeExplorer for Guitar, Groveland now applies their powerful software teaching tools and extensive music theory knowledge to exploring the Cittern, a 5-course, fifths-tuned instrument. The jazzCittern™ ModeExplorer is software designed for those learning advanced music theory and improvisation on Cittern, Mandolin, Bouzouki, Octave Mandolin, Mandocello, "New Standard Tuning" Guitar, and other fifths-tuned instruments. Craig Schmoller, Groveland's chief engineer, explains, "The Cittern is really the happy offspring of a Mandocello and a Bouzouki. We tune it CGDAE (in fifths), and it becomes an extraordinary jazz instrument, modeling music theory like few other instruments can. It illustrates the wonderful symmetries unique to fifths tuning, and makes chord-building and scale-visualization an absolute breeze." The Cittern, says Schmoller, is the perfect instrument for Groveland's software tools. "We can imagine a day when fifths tuning on five courses is the standard, and the mighty Cittern rules the world! It just makes sense." OS: Windows XP/Vista
