Montreal is famous for being a happening festival city and throughout the year it definitely lives up to its reputation. Godin Guitars is happy to be a proud sponsor of one such event, the Festival International Nuits D'Afriques de Montréal. This festival not only spices up this city's summer nights for 11 days in July, but also brings world music lovers the "Syli D'Or de la Musique du Monde 2009" from February 24th to April 22nd, 2009.
Godin Guitars' involvement includes the prize giveaways of three special guitars to the top three finalists of the festivals "Syli D'Or 2009" showcases. This world music "battle of the bands" culminates with the final Gala showcase, in which a panel of music industry judges picks the top three artists who will win Gold, Silver or Bronze awards. Godin's Artist Relations representative, Fred DiSanto, will be on hand as a judge and to giveaway the three guitars including: the Godin 5th Avenue archtop acoustic, the Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin P90 and the Godin Multiac ACS.
In its 23rd year, the Festival International Nuits D'Afriques de Montréal, brings the vibrant sounds of world music from around the globe to the city of Montreal. This world class event and Canada's original world music festival has brought some of the biggest names of the genre to Canada. Artist such as the renowned Youssou N'Dour, Papa Wemba, Angelique Kidjo, Habib Koité and many more.
Productions Nuits d'Afrique, the festivals own production company, has been a springboard to North America for many groups that are now well known, establishing their reputations and introducing them to fans through memorable live concerts and events, such as the highly touted Festival International Nuits d'Afrique de Montréal.
