    By Guest |

Canadian based Godin Guitars is proud to once again present this years Montreal Guitar Grand Prix. In its 2nd year, this free event is now open to guitarists of all ages and takes place on September 29th & 30th 2007.

The MMMIS (Montreal Musician and Musical Instrument Show), whose mission it is to encourage music making among the masses, established the Montreal Guitar Grand Prix to promote and develop the talents of local guitarists and allow them to showcase their musical ability on stage in front of a live public audience.

The contestants are asked to perform in a maximum of 2 categories of their choice, which include: Classical, Acoustic (fingerstyle & fingerpicking), Jazz (archtop or manouche) and Blues/Rock. Prizes include thousands of dollars worth of musical equipment supplied by Godin Guitars, Steve's Music Store, Marshall Amplification and Digitech.

The preliminary auditions take place over the 2-day event at the Savoy du Metropolis in Montreal. The final showcase takes place at 8pm at Club Soda on September 30th, where a winner in each category will be announced, followed by a performance by a very special guest artist. The final performances and preliminary auditions are free and doors are open to the public, who are encouraged to come and cheer on all of the talented musicians.
