Gibson and Yoakam go Honky Tonking with Deuce Guitar

Gibson Montana and Dwight Yoakam have brought together a classic honky tonk look and a classic Gibson guitar design to create the Limited Edition Dwight Yoakam Honky Tonk Deuce. The new model is based on Gibson's Round Shoulder body - the famous design used for the J-35 in Bill Monroe's first edition of the Blue Grass Boys, the Southerner Jumbo played by Hank Williams and the J-160E favored by the Beatles - and trimmed out with pearl dice inlays and other eye-catching appointments.

"Dwight Yoakam's music epitomizes the edgy sound of the classic country artists, and the Honky Tonk Deuce harkens back to that time when country music was flashy and emotional without being slick and overproduced," says Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibson chairman and CEO. "This is Gibson's second collaboration with Dwight, and we're excited to continue our partnership."

Created with Yoakam's direction, the Honky Tonk Deuce has a Sitka spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides. The guitar comes in an Antique Natural or Vintage Sunburst finish and has pearl parallelogram inlays, classic nickel keystone tuners, and special inlaid pearl dice on the fingerboard and pickguard.

Only 200 Honky Tonk Deuces will be made, 100 in Antique Natural and 100 in Vintage Sunburst. Each guitar will be numbered and personally signed by Yoakam.

Gibson Montana first teamed up with Yoakam in 1999 to produce the Limited Edition Dwight Yoakam Y2K model (based on the jumbo body style of Gibson's J-200 and J-180).
