Furman Products to Be Demonstrated at the 125th AES Convention

The New Classic Series At AES 2008 Furman will be unveiling its new Classic Series of rugged single-rack-space power management/light modules. Offering a new industrial design and full feature set engineered specifically for the A/V professional, the Classic Series includes three 15-amp models, the PL-8C, PL-PLUS C, and PL-PLUS DMC, along with the two 20-amp "Pro" models, the PL-PRO C and PL-PRO DMC.

In addition to Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) for unequaled audio and video clarity, Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) for the highest level of surge protection available, and automatic Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) to protect connected equipment from dangerous overvoltage conditions, all units in the Classic Series feature nine outlets with two rear-panel isolated outlet banks to lower intercomponent noise interference and a "Protection OK" indicator on the front panel to alert users to the operational status of the unit. To accommodate bulky transformers, the power management solutions feature wall-wart spacing. For rack illumination, the units feature "Smooth Track" retractable LED rack lights and a rear-panel BNC connector to power any standard gooseneck lamp.

The PL-PLUS C features multi-segmented, colored LED voltmeters to monitor the incoming line voltage, while the PL-PRO DMC offers laboratory-precision-grade digital voltmeters/ammeters to monitor the incoming line voltage and true RMS current, along with a color-coded voltage indicator to monitor voltage levels from a distance or while operating the ammeter. Both 20-amp Pro units feature front-panel chargers for small USB-powered electronics, as well as Furman's Velcro "Secure Straps" wall-wart locking system to provide additional support for racks that must travel.

The Classic Series will be available in November 2008 at the following MSRPs: $209 (PL-8C), $269 (PL-PLUS C), $369 (PL-PLUS DMC), $429 (PL-PRO C), and $499 (PL-PRO DMC).

Sneak Preview — The New Classic Export Series At this year's show, Furman will also debut the Classic Export Series power management/light modules. The new export models provide increased protection and filtration to 220V-240V countries. Just like their domestic counterparts, the Classic Export models feature Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT), Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP), automatic Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS), and "Smooth Track" LED retractable lights. The series includes two 10-amp models, the PL-8C E and the PL-PLUS C E, and one 16-amp model, the PL-PRO DMC E.

All Classic Export models provide 10 filtered and protected rear-panel IEC outlets with a front-panel convenience outlet and "Protection OK" indicator light. The PL-PLUS C E adds a segmented LED voltmeter that monitors and displays incoming line voltage while the PL-PRO DMC E features a large digital voltmeter/ammeter with a discrete dimmer button that displays line voltage and true RMS current draw with a color-coded voltage indicator. In addition, the PL-PRO DMC E provides a front-panel charger for small USB-powered electronics or to power a USB lamp. At a capacity of 16 amps, the PL-PRO DMC E also features a high-inrush-capable magnetic circuit breaker for added protection. All Furman Classic Export models include a 2.5-meter removable IEC female-to-Schuko-male power cord. Adapter cords, available from Furman, offer regional plug options.

The Classic Export Series will be available in November 2008 at the following MSRPs: $240 (PL-8C E), $325 (PL-PLUS C E), and $490 (PL-PRO DMC E).
