  • Furman Announces Three Power Management Rack-Mount Solutions for A/V Professionals

    By Guest |

Furman today announced the newest additions to its rack-mount Prestige Series of advanced power management solutions: the P-2400 AR (http://www.furmansound.com/product.php?div=01&id=P-2400AR&adv=infocomm09presskit) voltage regulator/power conditioner and the P-2400 IT (http://www.furmansound.com/product.php?div=01&id=P-2400IT&adv=infocomm09presskit) balanced power conditioner. Additionally the company launched a new battery back-up solution, the F1500. P-2400 AR Voltage Regulator/Power Conditioner

Succeeding Furman's popular AR-20 II, the P-2400 AR is ideal for providing power to A/V equipment in high-current applications, with voltage regulation, power protection, and noise filtration at 20A capacity. The unit accepts input voltages from 97V to 137V and converts them to a steady, stable output of 120V (±5V). Voltages approximately ±10 percent beyond that range may be converted to usable levels, depending on the requirements of the equipment. This stable voltage protects equipment, allows optimal performance, and corrects problems caused by abnormally high or low voltages, including equipment lock-ups, overheating, and premature failure. The P-2400 AR's true RMS voltage regulation technology is driven by an ultra-low-noise, microprocessor-controlled, eight-tap toroidal autoformer engineered for use in any A/V environment. True RMS voltage regulation provides quiet operation for critical listening and recording applications with minimal leakage of stray magnetic fields. The autoformer's solid-state switching design does not inject noise into the audio signal, providing stable and quiet operation when subjected to severe voltage fluctuations— even when connected to power generators. Power to the P-2400 AR is supplied via a 10-foot 3/12 AWG power cord with a NEMA 20-P plug. Fourteen rear panel NEMA 5-20R receptacles (twelve rear panel, two front panel) are provided. All receptacles are fully regulated, protected, and filtered. The robust steel chassis is rack-mountable (2RU), with rear rack-mounting ears included. The model features Furman's proprietary Series Multistage Protection (SMP) for comprehensive, nonsacrificial surge/spike protection, Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) to protect equipment from dangerous extreme voltage conditions, and Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) for up to 50dB of differential noise reduction. Convenience features include a front-panel digital voltmeter/true RMS ammeter with color-coded "Voltage Range," "Protection OK," and "Extreme Voltage" indicators for comprehensive power monitoring, and a front-panel USB charger for cell phones, personal media devices, or to power a USB lamp. The P-2400 AR will begin shipping August 2009 with an MSRP of $1,999.

    P-2400 IT Balanced Power Conditioner

A successor to Furman's IT-20 II, the P-2400 IT balanced power conditioner is ideal for mission-critical A/V installations such as recording, broadcasting, and mastering studios, or anywhere that pristine, ultra-low-noise power is necessary. The unit features over 80dB of linear common-mode noise reduction provided by a massive 85 pound center-tapped, symmetrically balanced isolation transformer and is GFCI protected with a ground lift switch for 100 percent isolation from line, neutral, and ground. The P-2400 IT operates at 20A capacity and features two isolated outlet banks with 10 ultra-low resistance Hubbell 20A rear panel receptacles and a pair of GFCI protected 20A outlets on the front and rear panels. The robust steel chassis is rack-mountable (3RU), with rear rack-mounting ears included. The P-2400 IT will begin shipping August 2009 with an MSRP of $2,799.

    F1500-UPS Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Conditioner

The F1500-UPS provides 1500VA battery backup to prevent data loss and allow orderly shutdown of connected equipment in the event of a power outage. Featuring Furman's advanced nonsacrificial SMP surge/spike protection circuit, Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS), and Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT), the F1500-UPS provides professional-level protection, filtration, and backup with several features engineered specifically for the needs of A/V systems. The F1500-UPS is ideal for installed sound systems, DAW workstations, and any electronics that risk data corruption or equipment damage in the event of power loss. The F1500-UPS is fully programmable via RS-232, USB, or LCD front panel interface. A rear panel card slot accepts an optional TCP/IP control card (available Q4 2009) for control and monitoring via the Internet. The front panel interface displays valuable system and diagnostic information such as battery time remaining based on current load and voltage input/output. Critical load management allows the user to prioritize allocation of battery power to connected equipment, and a programmable IR blaster provides safe shutdown of remotely located equipment, such as video projectors whose bulbs might otherwise be compromised in the event of a blackout. The robust, road-worthy chassis includes removable rack ears and may be installed in a system rack (2RU height) or on any flat surface. A latching, removable front panel allows the hot-swappable batteries to be replaced without turning the unit off, removing the unit from the rack, or dismantling any connected equipment. The F1500-UPS will begin shipping August 2009 with an MSRP of $1,299.95.
