Line 6 Expands Versatility of DT-series Amplifiers with Free v2.0 Firmware Update

New HD preamps and configuration options transform DT50 and DT25 into boutique amp factories

CALABASAS, Calif.—October 30, 2012—Line 6, Inc. today announced the release of DT50™/DT25™ v2.0 firmware, a free update that dramatically expands the number of HD preamps and gives musicians unprecedented ability to create unique amp voicings.

Co-designed by Line 6 and tube-amp guru Reinhold Bogner, DT series guitar amplifiers combine reconfigurable analog topologies with Line 6 technology to provide boutique feel and sonic versatility. The v2.0 firmware update expands the HD preamp count from four to 30, and gives users the ability to create unique amp tones by pairing any preamp with any combination of dynamic topologies (negative feedback loop, operating class, power tube mode, and more) within Reinhold Bogner’s reconfigurable tube power amp.

Musicians can load a DT amp with up to eight unique voicings (four on channel A, plus four on channel B), providing a wide array of tones for performance and recording. They can also connect a POD® HD multi-effects to access even more custom voicings.

The new firmware update also lets musicians configure each voicing with a choice of 12 reverbs, each with unique parameter settings. Switching between Channel A and Channel B now includes reverb spillover, which lets the reverb finish its decay. In addition, DT50 amp owners have the option of setting the 12AX7 boost per amp model.

DT50/DT25 firmware v2.0 is now available. It can be downloaded via the Line 6 Monkey Intelligent Updater software and requires a USB-to-MIDI interface. Customers can control the enhanced MIDI functionality from an iPhone® or iPad® by adding a Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer™ II interface (and Touch OSC, MIDI Memo Recorder, or any other compatible MIDI app). Alternately, they can use a Mac® or PC computer with a USB-to-MIDI interface and compatible software capable of sending MIDI CC information.
