Fohhn Ships FC-9 DSP System Controller

Systems Workshop Distribution has announced that German pro audio manufacturer Fohhn is shipping its new FC-9 digital DSP system controller. Specially designed for use in fixed installations, the 19-inch/1U rack-mounted remote unit has four inputs, six outputs and eight input contacts for accessing presets and other functions such as mute buttons. Network compatible, it can be controlled and monitored via laptop (using Fohhn's new Audio Soft V3.0 software) or optional eight-button wall panel, as well as integrating with AMX and CRESTON media control systems and EIB bus technology. At the heart of Fohhn's control technology is a unique two-stage DSP concept, designed to deliver maximum sound performance. Stage one involves the incorporation of high-quality audio tools that allow the Fohhn system to be adapted to the requirements of any venue. The FC-9 includes an integrated 10-band parametric EQ, delay, compressor/limiter, noise gate and crossover, plus a sound generator with pink noise and adjustable sine frequencies from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Stage two is based around a speaker management system, using a database in which specs for all Fohhn speaker types are stored. A specially developed algorithm protects bass, mid and high frequency drivers, guaranteeing balanced sound and maximum operating reliability at all volume levels. The FC-9 is recommended for use with applications involving standard multi-channel and 100V amplifiers, or monitored amplifiers complying with EN 60849 standards. A CAS automatic calibration function provides maximum protection for any connected speakers. CAS automatically measures the output of the connected amplifier channel to correctly set the limiter levels for the connected loudspeaker. The integral database enables data for up to a hundred amplifiers to be stored, retrieved, edited and loaded to the output channels as required. (A separate amplifier can be assigned to each output channel.) The unit's eight input contacts can be used to switch between different FC-9 presets, as well as those of other connected Fohhn devices, enabling easy system integration. The switching contacts can be configured via the Fohhn-Net Remote Control software. Push buttons and switches can also be connected to the contacts. Accessories for the FC-9 include the user software, USB and WLAN adapters. The FR-10 wall-mounted panel is also available as an optional accessory.
