Digigram unveiled at AES 2003 the EtherSound ES8mic and EtherSound ES2out, the latest products to join its growing EtherSound technology line for audio distribution over standard Ethernet.
EtherSound ES8mic features eight built-in microphone preamplifiers and allows for the insertion of up to eight microphone or line level analog audio signals into an EtherSound network. Multiple devices may be used to insert up to 64 audio signals. Featuring two analog outputs, EtherSound ES2out is a cost-effective solution for background music/paging systems and other applications where only a few audio channels are needed at a time. Both products, including the ES8mic's microphone preamplifiers, can be remote controlled using Digigram's EScontrol software.
The new products join EtherSound ES8in and EtherSound ES8out, which were released earlier this year as the first Digigram-branded products incorporating the patent-pending EtherSound technology. EtherSound offers the easiest and most affordable way to install and distribute 64 channels of audio between more than 60,000 devices using standard Ethernet switches and CAT5 cabling.
ES8mic can connect microphones to an EtherSound network using its eight switchable microphone/line level inputs. It transforms up to eight analog audio signals into as many EtherSound channels and injects them into an EtherSound network.
Each ES8mic preamplifier features variable gain, switchable phantom power, 80 Hz low-cut and 12 kHz high-cut filters, as well as an optional compressor/limiter. All functions are remote-controlled. It also includes eight protected GPIOs: four in and four out, RS232, and local channel assignment.
ES2out extracts up to two EtherSound channels from the network and transforms them into two analog audio signals for playback. It offers increased system granularity in applications where the sister product ES8out and its eight outputs is oversized. ES2out is fully remote controllable and offers the same high-quality audio output as all of Digigram's EtherSound products.
