Supro USA launches Black Magick Head and Celestion Alnico Cream Extension Cab at Sweetwater GearFest

June 23, 2017 (Fort Wayne, IN) - Supro USA is proud to announce the introduction of the 1695TH Black Magick Head at the Sweetwater Gear Fest, taking place today and tomorrow in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Black Magick head builds on the enormous success of the popular and award-winning Supro Black Magick combo, released last year as a recreation of the amp famously used by Jimmy Page on the early Led Zeppelin recordings. Also new, is the 1790C Supro Celestion Alnico Cream Extension Cab, featuring a top-of-the-line Celestion Alnico Creamback 90W 12" speaker housed in a custom black rhino hide-clad enclosure. The new Black Magick Head and Supro Celestion cabinet are available now exclusively from Sweetwater, the world's leading music technology and instrument retailer.

The Supro Black Magick head packs all the award-winning tone and circuitry of the Black Magick combo into a compact all-tube head format. This 25W, high-gain blues machine pairs perfectly with the Supro Celestion Alnico Cream Extension Cab, the Supro Black Magick 1×12 and 1×15 cabs, Supro Statesman 2×12 extension cabinets, or your favorite vintage 4×12 cab.
With more gain on tap than any other Supro reissue, Black Magick absolutely rips for heavy blues and classic rock guitar styles. This amp's traditional, cathode-biased "Class-A" power section uses 6973 tubes to achieve the instantly recognizable midrange grind and phenomenal touch dynamics that define the Supro sound. A complete range of tones from warm cleans to heavy distortion can be accessed by simply adjusting the volume knob on your instrument. The signature Supro power tube tremolo adds footswitchable depth and dimension to this historic rock and roll machine.
The preamp found in the Black Magick features two channels wired in parallel, with independent volume controls and a single, shared tone control. The vintage-correct front-end topology of the original 1959 Supro combos has been streamlined in the Black Magick, with automatic linking of channels 1&2 when using only the first input jack. This flexible arrangement provides double the gain when used with one instrument and allows for two instruments to share the same Black Magick or for the use of an A/B/Y box to achieve channel-switching on the fly.

The Supro 1790C Celestion Cream extension cabinet is the ultimate 1x12 cab option for the Supro Black Magick head or combo amplifier. Celestion's top-of-the-line, UK-made 12" Cream speaker delivers the unrivaled vintage sweetness of an Alnico magnet with a full 90 Watts of power handling. This driver's potent 100db sensitivity rating makes it the ideal companion for the 25W Black Magick, offering up the best dynamic range and headroom we've ever heard from an Alnico speaker.
The late 50s Supro styling and construction of this partially open-back extension cab is sized to fit perfectly underneath the Black Magick head or 1x12 combo. When paired with the Black Magick combo, the 1790C Celestion Cream extension cabinet offers up a perfect sonic complement to the award winning combo's internal ceramic speaker. The complex and detailed midrange that results from pairing Supro and Celestion speakers with the Black Magick amp makes this setup the rig of choice for Guns N' Roses guitarist Richard Fortus.
