  • Berkleemusic Now Offering Online Bass Courses

    By Guest |

Berkleemusic, the online continuing education division of Berklee College of Music, has announced the first two courses in their new online bass course curriculum.

In the Rock Bass Improvisation course you'll learn how to affect and contribute to a song rhythmically, harmonically, and melodically through lessons covering phrasing, feel and improvisation. You'll study Berklee's bass method to Rock, Blues Rock, Delta, Chicago, and Texas blues, and learn more advanced techniques such as playing with odd time signatures, modal bass lines, and the open "jam style."

In the Bass Performance 101 course, you'll study the techniques and unique playing styles of bass masters across many different genres, including Roger Waters, Paul McCartney, Carol Kaye, Ray Brown, and Charles Mingus.

You'll focus on four key areas of performance: time, tonality, timbre, and taste, and learn how to use theory to generate ideas that you can apply directly to your own bass lines.

Berkleemusic's fall term begins October 1.
