BEHRINGERs Instrument Amplification Division is proud to introduce the V-AMP virtual guitar amplifier ($269 MSRP). The V-AMP employs the latest in digital modeling technology to provide a full range of classic guitar tones and cabinet simulations. With its patent-pending design and intuitive out-of-the-box operation, the V-AMP gives novices and professionals alike a flexible tool for both direct recording and front-end tone shaping for combo amps or public address systems.

The V-AMP includes 16 virtual amplifier models, which simulate the tonal characteristics of classic guitar amplifiers, including four custom V-AMP models ranging from pristine clean to ultra distortion. 15 cabinet simulations can also be accessed from the front panel of the unit, allowing the user to freely mix and match them with any amp model without having to use any additional software.

According to BEHRINGER founder, Uli Behringer, "High-end FFT analysis and extensive research was involved to authentically model those classic amps. An ultra-high power DSP with over 100 MIPS has been chosen whose immense calculating power can catch even the slightest nuance of the original amp."

The V-AMPs user interface includes illuminated dials and an easy-to-read LED display, making it effortless to check and change settings in low stage lighting. It also has an adjustable auxiliary stereo input so musicians can plug in a CD, drum machine, or any other playback device a very useful feature for practicing, teaching, or home recording applications. Balanced stereo outputs and a headphone jack are also included.

The V-AMP features a wide variety of high-quality stereo effects, including delay, chorus, flanging, tremolo, compression, rotary speaker simulation, as well as resonance effects like phase-shifting, auto-wah and even a wah-wah pedal simulation which can be controlled via an external MIDI pedal. All of the effects parameters are editable via MIDI.

In fine-tuning the sound of the V-AMP, BEHRINGER collaborated with a number of professional guitarists, many of whom also provided factory presets. "We knew it was important to collaborate with serious guitar players on the V-AMP", adds Jan Duwe, BEHRINGER product manager. "Their feedback was overwhelming and everyone told us that the V-AMP is the most authentic guitar amp they ever heard". For those guitarists who want to delve deeper, Emagic has also provided BEHRINGER with V-AMP SoundDiver software, which allows comprehensive computer-based editing, storage and control of all parameters and presets.

The V-AMP comes complete with a sturdy metal dual footswitch and a practical and attractive carrying bag. The V-AMP will be shipped in April 2001.
