    By Guest |

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts has enlisted Babicz Guitars USA of Poughkeepsie, NY to create a custom collection of Bethel Woods Limited Edition guitars. The guitars will commemorate the grand opening of The Museum at Bethel Woods and the start of the arts center's 2008 performance season.

The guitars, personally hand selected by Jeff Babicz and customized with the Bethel Woods logo, feature a Dreadnought Cutaway profile with solid Javanese Rosewood back & sides, a solid Engelmann Spruce top in a custom Teardrop Tobacco Sunburst satin finish, and feature the award winning L.R.Baggs "iMix" dual pick up system. Each guitar is supplied with an arch-top hardshell case.

Gerry Foundation Chairman Alan Gerry said, "Bethel Woods is deeply committed to supporting local talent and industry, and is pleased to be working with the award-winning team at Babicz Guitars. Their commitment to quality and excellence matches our own, and is evident in each of the exquisite instruments they have developed for us."

Jeff Babicz stated, "We at Babicz are extremely happy to be named the official Bethel Woods guitar source. No one person is responsible for this fantastic achievement — this is a total team effort by many professionals in both companies. I would especially like to thank Alan Gerry for having the continued vision of innovation and performance, which is completely evident in the Bethel Woods/Babicz guitar

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is a $100 million outdoor performing arts center and museum approximately 90 minutes from New York City at the site of the original 1969 Woodstock festival in Bethel, NY. Set within nearly 2,000 bucolic acres, the Pavilion Stage covers 4,500 seats with another 10,000 on a natural sloping lawn, offering unique backdrops including the original festival site and the majesty of the surrounding Sullivan County countryside. Other venues at the center include a 1,000-seat outdoor Terrace Stage and intimate indoor Events Gallery. This season marks the 10th anniversary of the Harvest Festival, an annual event celebrating the bounty, talent, and beauty of Sullivan County and the surrounding area.

The Museum at Bethel Woods explores the unique experience of the Woodstock festival, its significance as a culminating event of a decade of radical cultural transformation, and the legacies of the Sixties and Woodstock today. Through personal stories and profiles, immersive multi-media exhibit displays and experiences, engaging programs, and educational events, The Museum will encourage inter-generational dialogue about important ideas and issues relevant to today. It will also help preserve the historic site on which the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair took place.

In addition to the limited edition collection of Babicz "Bethel Woods" guitars, the company will donate a unique, one-of-a-kind guitar to commemorate the grand opening of The Museum at Bethel Woods, which will be on display.

"Mr. Gerry and his dedicated staff of professionals have worked tirelessly to open this iconic landmark. This exclusive guitar is a small token of our appreciation to the Bethel Woods team," added Babicz Guitars co-founder Jeff Carano.
