    By Guest |

Avid® (NASDAQ: AVID) today announced that it has teamed with local,

national and international organizations at the 2011 SXSW Music and

Media Conference in an effort to empower independent filmmakers and

students during the festival's 10 day run from March 11-20, 2011.

Avid to Present Annual Filmmakers Luncheon

Working with Machete writer, director and editor Robert Rodriguez

and partnering with the festival's organizers, Avid will present the

annual SXSW Filmmakers Luncheon on Friday, March 11 at Troublemaker

Studios in Austin, Texas. Featuring attendance by the 200+ directors

invited to SXSW each year, the luncheon brings together a unique

gathering of narrative, documentary, music video and short film directors

in order to foster collaboration and facilitate creativity though

    community building.

"Avid and Troublemaker Studios share a commitment to inspiring and

empowering a community of creative professionals at all levels," says

Robert Rodriquez.  "SXSW is such an amazing opportunity for gifted

independent filmmakers to share that inspiration and build on that sense

of community. We are tremendously proud to bring so many of these

talented filmmakers together to share their creative energies.

VENUE to Support Live Performances at the British Music Embassy Stage

Avid has partnered with Cato Music to handle the mix at the festival's

highly regarded British Music Embassy stage, the only venue run directly

by a foreign government at SXSW. The UK stage will host more than 60 acts

throughout the festival, including British buzz bands like the Bombay

Bicycle Club, Jamie Woon and The Boxer Rebellion. Cato Music will use

Avid's VENUE Profile and SC48 live sound consoles to deliver the features

and stability required by sound engineers to handle the rigorous live

    performance demands during SXSW.

"VENUE was the obvious choice," says Glen Rowe, founder of Cato Music.

"The sound quality is sensational, and with VENUE's tight Pro Tools

integration, we can use Avid's HD|Native recording solution on site to

provide a multi track recording of each performance, which can go a

long way to support acts just starting out. In addition, with Avid

engineers like Robb Allan-whose mixed Coldplay and Massive Attack-on

hand to run the audio, we're delighted by the level of support Avid

are providing to the bands and the British Music Embassy."
