GRENOBLE, FRANCE: music software and hardware developer Arturia is proud to announce availability of Piano V — meticulously modelling the sound and behaviour of one of the most important instruments history has yet thrown up — as of May 19...

Creating Piano V was a major undertaking. Arturia attentively analysed everything that has musically made the piano the perfect combination for personal expression and musical intimacy for over four centuries. Collectively concluding that it had succeeded in achieving the most accurate recreation of an acoustic piano possible in software, the determined developer set about unleashing that power in ways that are beyond the bounds of physical possibility.

Piano V users can creatively combine components into variations so subtle and acute as to bring the impossible to life! The composition of the hammers and their position to the type of piano and its condition, the number and placement of microphones to the size of the room housing the piano can all be changed instantly and simultaneously. Simply selecting a new preset changes every parameter instantly. An abundance of tone-shaping features that usually require the services of a trained technician in the real world are a click away. Access is via the resizable (Retina/4K-compatible) GUI (Graphical User Interface) that’s as easy on the eye as it is to use.

Usefully, Piano V offers physical modelling of not just one but nine different acoustic pianos types rolled into one superb-sounding virtual instrument. Indeed, Classical Upright, Concert Grand, Glass Grand, Intimate Grand, Jazz Upright, Metal Grand, Piano-bar Upright, Pop Grand, and Pop Upright offer something special to suit any (musical) occasion!

On Mac OS X and Windows Piano V performs perfectly as an AAX-, AU-, VST-, and VST3-compatible plug-in in any DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) with MIDI Learn functionality to easily map all parameters to a MIDI CC (Control Change) or as a standalone version. Naturally, Native Instruments’ new NKS® (NATIVE KONTROL STANDARD) — allowing advanced integration with third-party software instruments — is there for the taking.

The impact that the piano has had on the wonderful world of music cannot be overstated. Imagine where we’d be with out it. Imagine a world without Ludwig van Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight Sonata’ and ‘Für Elise’, George Gershwin’s ‘Rhapsody In Blue’, Jerry Lee Lewis’‘Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On’, or (obviously) John Lennon’s timeless peace-preaching anthem ‘Imagine’. Better off imagining instead all the magical music that’s to come... courtesy of Piano V!

Amazingly, Arturia has virtually eliminated any advantage that the acoustic guitar may hitherto have had as the instrument with the most direct connection between music and the musician. Make just as much music in a forest or on the streets by pairing Piano V with Arturia’s positively portable yet perfectly playable KeyStep Controller & Sequencer and a laptop. Play piano-centric compositions anywhere anytime. After all, the timeless sound of the piano is always in style.

    About Arturia (www.arturia.com)

Founded in Grenoble, France, in 1999, Arturia specialises in the development of music software and hardware for professional and amateur musicians alike. Focusing on innovation, the company strives to integrate the latest advances in computer music research and technology into its products. This involves working closely with partner research institutions, such as IRCAM France, in the development of cutting-edge musical instruments and software, which have gone on to be used in making many hit records and Hollywood soundtracks. One of Arturia’s core technologies is TAE® (True Analog Emulation), an advanced proprietary technology allowing accurate modelling of analogue circuitry behaviour on personal computers. Developed by Arturia’s in-house Signal Processing team, this technology has been employed to successfully recreate the sounds produced by many classic analogue synthesizers. Having successfully launched Origin, its first hardware synthesizer (housing several synth classics and associated components in one powerful, no-holds-barred DSP-based modular system), and the hybrid hardware/software SPARK Creative Drum Machine (cleverly combining analogue synthesis, physical modelling, and samples with the intuitive workflow of a hardware drum machine), 2012 saw Arturia introducing the cost-conscious MiniBrute, an amazingly compact and bijou analogue monosynth (boasting MIDI, USB, and CV connectivity together with a host of unique features). Having already broadened its appeal further still by successfully entering the iOS soft synth market and building upon its analogue synth and hybrid hardware/software successes, 2016 sees Arturia making a grand entrance into the audio interface market with its next-generation AudioFuse.
