Applied Acoustics Systems (AAS) today announced the release of the Lounge Lizard EP-1, an electric piano based on physical modeling. The Lounge Lizard will run on both Mac and PC and feature support for the DXi, VST, DirectConnect and MAS plug-in formats. Physical modeling involves using the laws of physics to model how an object functions. In the case of the Lounge Lizard, the mechanism of an electric piano, including the tone and tine bars, the hammer and the pick up is accurately modeled for unmatched sound quality and control. Parameters such as the material of the bars, point of impact of the hammers, and pick-up position can all be adjusted precisely enabling users to obtain a vast range of timbres and tones.

The Lounge Lizard is based on Applied Acoustics Systems own award-winning physical technology already used in the Tassman software synthesizer. Developed for amateur and professional musicians, it comes with a vast number of presets acutely replicating the sound of well-known electric pianos and more.

The Lounge Lizard will be available on March 1 2002 and sell for $149. The program functions on Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP as well as Mac 9.2 and above operating systems.
