DJs and mobile entertainers can now control all their lighting fixtures with a touch of their fingertips, thanks to the new touch-sensitive Palm Copilot controller from American DJ and Elation Professional. A unique 8-channel handheld On/Off controller, the Palm Copilot can be used with both analog and DMX packs, allowing users to turn fixtures on and off simply by touching a channel number on the faceplate. Developed by ADJ's sister company Elation Professional, a leader in professional lighting control products, the compact, affordable Palm Copilot puts the convenience of touch-sensitive technology in the hands of everyday working DJs and musicians. "The newest thing in lighting control is to move away from the old mechanical faders and buttons, and replace them with touch-sensitive units," said Scott Davies, General Manager of the American DJ Group of Companies. "The Palm Copilot is a touch-sensitive controller that was designed specifically for DJs, bands and mobile entertainers. It's lightweight, budget-priced and easy to operate, plus it can be used to control both analog and DMX fixtures. The Palm Copilot is an example of how American DJ is committed to bringing the latest, most advanced lighting technology to our DJ/mobile entertainer customers in a package geared to their needs, at a price they can afford," Davies added. Not only does the Palm Copilot offer the ease of touch-sensitive control, the pint-sized unit is also totally portable. It can operate on a 9V DC battery, in addition to an external power supply, giving DJs and entertainers an effortless way to switch their fixtures on and off from anywhere on a stage or dance floor, without having to worry about an electrical connection. Versatile and flexible, the Palm Copilot comes equipped with both a 3-pin DMX output connector and a DB-9 analog connector. Its analog output is compatible with American DJ's LC-4 and LC-8 Light Control switch packs (sold separately). Its DMX output is compatible with any standard DMX-512 pack. The Palm Copilot features a 10-way dip switch setting on the rear panel to patch the starting DMX address. It also includes power failure memory, as well as a Touch Tone feature that can be turned on or off. Truly a "palm-sized" unit, the Palm Copilot measures a compact 4.75"L x 3.25"W x 1.5"D. It weighs only one-half pound for easy transport in a pocket or accessory pouch. The Palm Copilot is marketed by American DJ and manufactured by its sister company Elation Professional. The MSRP of the Palm Copilot is $139.95.
