Allen & Heath is expanding its Contractor series of dedicated installation products at this year’s NSCA in Nashville with the launch of the GR8A, the first eight-channel amplifier on the market.

As well as being suited to a wide range of zoning, paging, surround and background music applications, the GR8A is intended as the perfect companion to Allen & Heath’s DR Series of digital installation mixers and GR Series zone mixers.

The amplifier’s eight independent channels are housed in just 2U of rack space and deliver 60W into 4 ohms. Channels can also be bridged in pairs as required, giving 120W into 8 ohms. Inputs are on balanced XLRs with +4dBu sensitivity for maximum power.

Among GR8A’s standout features is a unique monitoring system that allows direct speaker line monitoring of each amplifier output from a front panel headphone socket or rear panel monitor socket, with level matching to the correct headphone sensitivity.

The amplifier is a DMOS design with low radiation toroidal transformer and three-speed heat management system. Front panel controls for each channel can be removed for preset operation or plugged to prevent tampering.

Allen & Heath is a British manufacturer of high-end mixing consoles for live and recording applications, distributed in the U.S. by the Harman Music Group, a subsidiary of Harman International.
