Gigi, the classic musical featuring songs by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, is the latest addition to Alfred's Classic Musical Editions series of legendary Broadway musicals.
Based on a 1945 novel by French author Colette, Gigi was first transformed to the stage in 1951, in a production starring Audrey Hepburn. It became a musical in 1958, when M-G-M's film version became one of the most honored motion pictures of all time, starring Leslie Caron, Louis Jourdan, and Maurice Chevalier. In 1973, Gigi was adapted to Broadway, with the composers augmenting the production with several new songs. It is this version that is the subject of the new Alfred edition, featuring such classic songs as "Thank Heaven for Little Girls," "Gigi," and "I Remember It Well." All music is formatted for Piano/Vocal/Chords.
