Alfred Distributes Accents and Rebounds (Updated Edition) from Stone Percussion Books, LLC
By Guest |
Alfred Music Publishing, the world leader in educational print music publishing since 1922, exclusively distributes Accents and Rebounds (Updated Edition), an advanced book for the snare drummer designed to follow and reinforce the author’s previous classic, Stick Control, by nationally renowned authority on rudimental drumming, George Lawrence Stone.
Accents and Rebounds adds accent routines and more advanced rhythms to the basics covered in Stick Control, all to improve the player’s finesse and control. Lessons include in-depth studies on accented eighths, accented dotted notes, accented triplets, rebound control, the buzz roll, and much more. The drum method also presents, for the first time, a progressive approach to control the secondary beat of the roll, which is important in the finished execution of the drummer’s long tone. This newly updated version adds Joe Morello’s legendary arrow notation to help students properly perform the motions of the Moeller technique for each exercise, and is prefaced with an overview from the author, as well as personal testaments from acclaimed drummers including John Riley, Dom Famularo, Danny Gottlieb, and Steve Forster.
“I am happy to see the release of this new edition of Accents and Rebounds and hope drummers today will take the time to understand and benefit from Stone’s concepts.” – John Riley
“What you are about to experience with Accents and Rebounds is the most natural, effective and efficient movement for drumming. George L. Stone was a master. . .” – Dom Famularo
George Lawrence Stone (1886-1967) was a nationally known authority on rudimental drumming, as he was one of the founders of NARD, the National Association of Rudimental Drummers. At the age of 16, he joined the musicians union as its youngest member. He studied music theory at the New England Conservatory of Music, and later played in the pit of Boston's Colonial Theater. His later jobs included being the principal of the Stone Drum and Xylophone School of Boston, and the drum editor of The International Musician. He is also known for educating some of the world’s most well-known drummers, including Joe Morello, Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton, and Vic Firth.
Alfred offers several other widely popular snare and mallet method books by George Lawrence Stone.
Accents and Rebounds (Updated Edition) (00-32750X) is now available for $10.99 at music retail stores and at alfred.com/percussion.
