Cumberland, R.I. (Dec. 22, 2011) – Alesis, the world’s leading manufacturer of instruments and tools for today's musician, announces that the iO4 USB audio interface for Mac, PC, and iOS* devices, is now shipping to musical instrument and pro audio retailers.
The iO4 is a compact audio-recording interface for home and mobile recording setups. This four-channel USB device for Mac, PC and iOS systems enables users to record and monitor up to eight channels of audio (four in, four out) at 16-bit resolution, or four channels (two in, two out) at 24-bit. The iO4 is compact enough to comfortably fit into laptop bag or backpack, yet contains high-quality components and circuitry suitable for the studio.
The iO4 has four input channels, each with an XLR microphone input, a 1/4-inch TRS insert for external effects units, and a 1/4-inch TS jack that works with line-level sources and can accommodate direct connection of guitars. Discrete-design preamplifiers and 48-volt phantom power are provided on each channel, allowing musicians to connect nearly any microphone or audio source to their computer. High-quality analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters ensure that every detail of each session is captured and played back faithfully.
Producers and musicians will appreciate the iO4’s ability to connect a second pair of reference monitors or route audio to external effects processors using the iO4’s four available output channels. For remote tracking and alternative playback, the iO4 has a 1/4-inch TRS headphone output. The iO4 features traditional 5-pin MIDI in and out jacks, making it an ideal interface for connecting MIDI controllers with music software and iOS apps.
With the ability to send and receive up to eight channels of audio on a single USB cable, the iO4 gives musicians a simple, universal interface. The iO4 is class compliant for plug-and-play operation with Mac OS X and Windows XP, Vista and 7. It is compatible with ASIO4ALL drivers, available for free download, for enhanced Windows performance.
Steinberg Cubase LE music software is also included, providing users with an intuitive approach to composing, recording, editing and mixing. The iO4 is compatible with virtually all music software and apps.
“The iO4 is our best-sounding interface, and it works with your iPad!” said Dan Radin, Alesis Product Manager. “Four channels of recording in a compact design—musicians are going have absolutely no problem fitting the iO4 into their setup, and into their budget, too.”
The iO4 is now available from musical instrument and pro audio retailers with an estimated street price of $149.00.
