At Winter NAMM, AKG Acoustics announced the addition of the SR 40/DIV, a stationary UHF diversity receiver, to its WMS 40 Wireless Microphone System series.

"The SR 40 Diversity builds on the popularity of our original SR 40 receiver," explains Tom Stotler, AKG Music and Touring Sound Market Development Manager. "At an affordable price only slightly above the standard version, the SR 40 Diversity is a very sophisticated receiver. AKG has designed this receiver to be very rugged and more reliable in environments hostile to RF transmission in order to meet the needs of professionals."

The SR40/DIV comes with an all-metal case, and an optional professional rack mounting kit allows the receiver to be installed in any 19-inch rack. The front panel is finished in soft-touch enamel. All readouts are protected by an impact and scratch resistant clear Lexan window. Indicators include three RF level LEDs and two audio level LEDs that include one peak LED and two diversity LEDs indicating which antenna is active. This allows users to easily check system status at a glance.

The rear panel provides two professional outputs with one balanced XLR output and one unbalanced jack output. Each output can be adjusted from microphone to line level with the output level control, allowing the SR 40 Diversity to be connected to any professional audio device. A cable strain relief next to the supply cord input prevents unintentional interruptions of the supply voltage. Both the RF and audio sections of the SR 40 Diversity are fully compatible with all current WMS 40 series transmitters.

The SR 40 Diversity is available in all standard frequencies. A large color code label on the front panel indicates the permanently programmed carrier frequency. The color code makes it easy to identify the various channels in a multichannel system. A preset squelch will mute the receiver if the received signal is too weak so the related noise, or the self-noise of the receiver, will not become audible when the transmitter is switched OFF.

The list price of the individual SR40 Diversity is $ 250.00. The SR40 Diversity is also available in handheld, bodypack and microtools system packages. These include the WMS40/DIV/880 diversity handheld system with a D880 capsule with a list price of $ 436.00. WMS40 Diversity bodypack systems include the WMS40/DIV/407 with a C407L omnidirectional lavalier that lists for $ 436.00; the WMS40/DIV/55 system with a CK55L cardioid lavalier at a list price of $448.00 and the WMS40/DIV/GT diversity bodypack with a MK/GL guitar/instrument cable for $398.00 list.

The WMS40 Diversity microtools systems include the WMS40/DIV/GB with GB 40 guitarbug at a list price of 428.00; the WMS40/DIV/SO system with a SO 40 wireless transmitter at a list price of $ 428.00; and the WMS40/DIV/MP with the MP 40 micropen at a list price of $ 448.00.
