At the AES show, Universal Audio announced the Pultec EQP-1A Program Equalizer in TDM plug-in format for the Digidesign Pro Tools HD and 24 |Mix systems. The Pultec EQP-1A has been available on the Universal Audio UAD-1 DSP card platform for over a year and has proven to be one of the most popular Plug Ins available with that product.

The Pultec EQP-1A Plug-In is an electronic reproduction of the legendary hardware equalizer using UA's proprietary "virtual circuit" modeling techniques. The Pultec EQ has long been a choice of mastering engineers for its ability to allow individual frequency ranges to bloom in a mix without significantly altering other frequencies, and is revered in audio circles for its sheer "musicality" adding a characteristic "gloss" to anything that passes though it.

The UA Pultec EQP-1A for Pro Tools supports sample rates of 44.1-192k. All of the unique features of the original hardware EQ are included in the plug-in, including the separate boost and attenuation controls, the smooth top end, and the ability to dial in boost. All front panel controls are included on the user interface, including accurate modeling of knob tapers. The end result is a plug-in model that reproduces the measured equalization and signal path characteristics to within a fraction of a single dB mean error according to the company.
