    Radial Engineering is pleased to announce the Radial 8ox, an 8 channel rack-mount splitter that is particularly well suited for multi-channel recording of live performances. It features 8 mic inputs, 8 main outputs for the live mixing console, a transformer isolated output for recording and a third auxiliary output that is equipped with ground lifts for monitor or broadcast feed.

    According to Radial production manager Paul Blake: "The original 8ox rack mount worked well, but was a bear to produce: It required all kinds of hand wiring which forced the price to be out of sight! But with the ever growing need for portable recording solutions and countless requests from customers asking us for greater affordability, we felt it was time to re-look at the original design and see if we could find a better solution. The new Radial 8ox hits the mark by combining Phoenix connectors with standard D-Subs. Best of all, it comes standard with our new custom designed isolation transformers and may be special ordered with Jensen's for those that want to extend the upper frequency response to 40kHz."

    As with all Radial products, the radial 8ox is made from 14 gauge welded steel with a baked enamel finish for added durability. Input and output connections are made on the rear panel using Phoenix screw terminals or 25 pin D-Sub following the Tascam standard. This eliminates duplicate XLRs and provides easy point to point harnessing to popular recording systems such as Digidesign, Motu and IZ Radar for greater space savings on portable recording rigs.

    To ad even greater flexibility, each channel is equipped with a 30dB input pad to allow high output line level devices to be connected and then sent to various mic level inputs such as found on mic preamps and mixers.
