David Himes - Contributing Editor

As a publisher of a local music scene paper for well over 16 years, David Himes gained a unique insight to how the music scene REALLY works—an insight that not too many aspiring bands and artists have. He’s seen and heard everything from the perspective of clubs and venues, bands (national and local), record labels, radio stations, promoters, agencies, and other industry pros.

David is the author of the book, Realities for Local Bands: Talent is Not Enough. In the book, Himes shares many insider secrets to success in the music scene. But Realities for Local Bands isn’t your typical fluff piece. The book reveals the common foolish and devastating mistakes most local (and even national) bands and others involved in the music scene make. “It’s the truth that not too many will like,” said Himes. “No one wants to let go of the conventional ways of thinking.”

David has been a regular contributor of content for Harmony Central. He offers an interesting perspective on live bands on the local scene. He also refers to himself as “The Gig Kahuna.”
