  1. I haven't finish putting this thing together yet, but: Squier body, Hohner neck, GFS tuners, EYparts full block trem (to be fixed, not used), 500k volume (no tone), 3-way tele pickups selector, series/parallel switch for humbuckers, Kramer 98T & 90R pickups froma Musicyo Kramer Les Paul copy (pretty nice sounding, supposedly a copy of Gibson 498T & 490R, as the name suggests) Will string it up with 10s and hope that it rocks!
  2. NUNO BETTENCOURT. Extreme are just so cringe-inducingly awful Steve Stevens - never really liked any band he was in Paul Gilbert - Mr. Big are just cheesy And as for non 80s shredders.....umm........
  3. i agree with this. after playing a few teles recently the 3-barrel bridge seems like an important part of that classic tele sound (as opposed to a 6-saddle bridge like on some modern teles) i would suggest that vintage-output single-coils are the 2nd big part of the equation my tele copy has a top-load 3-barrel bridge and it has a gutsy twang that i love
  4. dumb poll. i agree that Metallica were only good in the 80s. 'Girls Girls Girls' is a bad Motley Crue album. all their other 80s albums are better, save for 'Theatre Of Pain', which is shockingly bad
  5. yawn. so bored of hearing about EVH. there is more to the world of rock guitar than just him. Van Halen only released one consistently good album - the first one. and his tone, while good, was not the be-all end-all everyone makes it out to be
  6. I wish that Gibson would just use the same headstock on Epiphones that they do on Gibson gear. Agreed! The Epi headstock has become so recognisable in itself that i can't see it ever changing
  7. I think you should play more...instead of wasting your time searching and posting pics of the headstocks you hate....... Harmony central can now sleep better at night. ....................................just sayin How could you possibly know how much time i spend playing the guitar? Why are you wasting your time with these posts? Are you ill?
  8. Taylor make some of the finest acoustics on the market, and their electrics arent too bad either. Tyler make superstrat variants. You would be quite fortunate to have one handed to you, they are played by quite a lot of studio aces on tour with some big names... and a few bums like Robben Ford. Of course you should turn it down on principle, a $4000 guitar is surely beneath you. Of course the headstocks look silly, but the burning water I played was a damn fine guitar... you forget all about the headstock when youre playing one. I couldn't care less what it costs, I can get perfectly good sounds out of my modded cheapies and they look cool. My point is that the Tyler superstrat copies looks so devastatingly bad that i would never be seen dead playing one
  9. Do you guys play guitar or worry about headstocks all day? On an ELECTRIC GUITAR FORUM we like to talk about many different aspects of the electric guitar, believe it or not. FYI, i spend a hell of a lot more time playing the thing than talking about it
  10. Ha! that is so weird you posted that the exact same second as my above post ^ This thread is making my eyes bleed
  11. Not that i consider myself particularly cool, but i wouldn't play one of those Taylor guitars onstage even if someone gave me one for free I seem to remember a company selling a guitar that had a "thumbs up" headstock a few years back. Anyone have an idea which one i'm talking about? I think they had ads in Guitar World about 10 years ago
  12. Game over I am afraid. Damn -etawful beat me to the button! There's lots of wrong with this picture. Unbelievably bad headstock. Seemingly random take on a strat pickguard which just doesn't work. And what is the point of angling those pickups so slightly? Plus it's got a light red finish on a flame maple top. I hate everything about this. I'm guessing it retails above a grand
  13. It's not so much ugly, as it is huge and awkward-late 60s Galanti Gran Prix. The rest of it is way cool though! Honorable mention, though personally I like it, Teico/silvertone 4 + 2: I absolutely love everything about that last guitar. On a cheap guitar i can forgive it somewhat. But ugly headstocks on those boutique strat copies selling for thousands of dollars? unforgivable
  14. yeah i love the oversized strat headstock. i think it looks good on almost anything and i don't think you can go far wrong with a simple elegant 3-a-side angled headstock with any body shape - classic Gibson style (not epiphone) Good headstocks:
  15. You can pay top dollar for a hideous headstock! i don't even get why companies that manufacture strat-a-likes from cheap to boutique attempt some vaguely stratty headstock. it will always look like a shit version of a fender headstock. just come up with something else that suits the strat body style. even a 3-a-side would like good
