  1. I've had problems where an "S" sounded lispy. I found that the bulk of the lispy (S sounds like "SH" or "CH") is around 3.2Khz instead of an "S" sound's 7Khz. It can be caused by gating or expansion that occurs at too high a volume (thus reducing the quieter S energy) OR too much de-essing . I found two ways to cure lispy S's: 1) reducing around 3.2KHZ and raising aound 7K makes the S's better. 2) A way that I like better is to use my dbx QuantumII "ambience" feature that raises sounds at middle levels. For example the "S" has less energy than the SH component, so raising the volume of the -60db area (the Ambience does not raise the higher or lower volume areas) brings back the "S" sound. This is not the same as the sibilence that De-essers usually fix, but it is related to S problems. Ken Kelly
