  1. People don't give a {censored} about playing. Shopping and name calling is where it's at, hippie! That's why I stop by about once a month just to see if anything's changed. It hasn't.
  2. If you don't have to do it for a living then take a break from it. There's no point in doing something that doesn't make you happy and feeling like you're forcing yourself to do it only makes it worse. One of two things will happen; you'll either find something else that makes you happy or you'll miss it and you'll be reinvigorated. Neither of those is a bad situation.
  3. I think that if Hendrix were still alive that he would have killed a lot of his legacy after his disco album.
  4. e-bay's tough too. I had something up for auction last week and had about 20 watchers. Not one bid even though it had a lowball starting price. As soon as it was over I started getting the offers of "I'll give you $xxx.xx to ship it to Canada" or "will you take $xxx.xx since that's the price minus the e-Bay fees." Now I don't like paying e-Bay anymore than anyone else, but if you saw my listing through their service then I believe they are entitled to their cut. I ended up selling it locallly for less just to get rid of the damn thing. Plus the guy's a friend so you know I can't work a buddy over. But yes, it's rough out there right now.
  5. Would a commercial on TV make you get up and buy that particular guitar or pedal?
  6. This is a good point. His solos really aren't communicative. They don't bring any emotion to the table. They are pretty much just gonzo wankfests. His rhythm is much more important than his soloing though, and his rhythm is incredibly tasty. You know a few years ago them there would have been fighting words, but to be honest his solos are entertaining rather than really communicate anything, but I do think that they fit the song. I mean if you listen to a song and can't imagine a different part being played in there then it fits in my book. Plus even as an old man now I still look forward to him falling down the stairs and landing on his feet. But I have to agree with you 100% that his rhythm work is by FAR his best attribute. He swings like a mofo and to get that kind of stuff going on with that kind of groove is just something special. For me he's the most important and the best, but that's because he's my favorite if I was given a choice with a gun held to my head. But there is a whole list of guys out there that I love nearly as much. I also think that it comes down to age of the person being asked. I mean he was IT when I was coming up; I am sure that there are plenty of guys a bit older that felt the same way when Hendrix broke onto the scene, but by the time I was born to hear him he was kind of old hat. The excitement wasn't the same as with EVH for me. I'm pretty sure that there's a lot of young guys that look at some of the latest generation and think that they're just untouchable.
  7. How far out of tune are you talking here? One or two cents or horribly out of tune?
  8. he's actually a classically trained pianists, so musically he's probably MORE inclined than hendrix, beck, etc. I can't comment on this OLD post with anything more than my own limited understanding of these guy's musical upbringing, but I have a strong feeling that Ed was more of the type that would figure it out by ear than by using theory to apply it to learning any song, piano or guitar. Beck and Hendrix on the other hand had been gigging in a bunch of different bands for years before they broke it big on their own. Eddie basically jammed with Alex and they through Mike in the mix later. Mike complimented Ed who fed off of Alex's beats and the melody and everything basically came from him doing what he wanted. Roth through vocals over it. I'm just saying the Eddie plays what sounds right to him and has always done that. Beck and Hendrix would be more adept at jumping in on with anyone and getting into a groove by feeding off the others. Eddie isn't a follower, he's got to the be the lead IMHO.
  9. ATTENTION: THE LIST HAS BEEN MOVED OVER TO HC2.0 YOU CAN POST HERE, BUT IT WILL NOT BE ADDED TO THE LIST
  10. This thread probably isn't getting updated anymore. We are on the Good Trader List III in 2.0, and this one is way behind that one. Plus, I have my doubts that anything we do in the legacy forums will carry over. I'll update the first post in here directing them to the new list on HC2.0 and I'll ask Mazi to lock this one. Not sure what you want to do about the late additions on here, but this list is dead as far as I am concerned; it isn't going to carry over and will only lead to screwing up the latest version of the list.
  11. Since we haven't upgraded to HC 2.0, yet, can I add a +1 for SnoMan97? I'm not updating the list right now because it isn't going to carry over to the new forum. It's already confusing enough and if I start adding I won't know who made it or who didn't, this way I know that as of the last update anything after that can be added. Of course I originally thought that it would be a week or two and now it looks like it's dragging out.
  12. Wow, I never realized how expensive TATTOOING (don't want to offend anyone here) was. Kind of scares me off even more now. I don't have any for several reasons, but the main one is when I was younger I met an old dude in a barber shop. He was frickin 92 years old and cool as {censored}. He had one of those oldschool green Navy tattoos that was just stretched and worn all to {censored}. He said that it was the stupidest thing he had ever done and was tired of looking at it for the last 75 years. That made sense to me. So my biggest problem with getting a tattoo isn't that they aren't cool, but I have no idea what I would want drawn on my body for the rest of my life. Perhaps I lack conviction or something. Another reason (and I know that this is just a stupid story), but I had a female friend (extremely hot girl) who had one on her right breast that was the name of the love of her life. Of course they had broken up. Now I suppose that you could try to find another dude by that name, but his name was {censored}ing Melvin. Melvin....Jesus Christ, who the hell names their kid Melvin, who the hell dates someone named Melvin and who the hell gets that name ink'd on their boob? I never slept with her though...I like to imagine that it was because the tattoo turned me off, but it had more to do with the fact that she wasn't interested in me.
  13. Current as of 5:29PM 25Mar2010 I got everyone except for Snoman97's greatest hits list on the previous page. I'll add them once he verifies that they are all new good trades. Please do not post in this thread until we move to HC2.0 which should be this week. If things get put on hold again I'll edit this post. Just don't want to lose anyone on here.
