  1. I love a good plain top Les Paul......but man, I absolutely HATE quilt top guitars.
  2. As much as I respect Lindsay Buckingham, I still prefer Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green way more than anything without him. His solo records are fantastic too (at least the ones that I've heard are).
  3. Originally posted by tlbonehead Their guitar cabs are their high point these days,IMO. You know, it was weird last time that I used them. I played a show with another band that had one, and I had to play through one. I was playing my Marshall through it, and I couldn't get hardly any feel out of it. With my older Mesa and my Bogner, I can shake notes, pick lightly, and in general, make sounds out of the way that I play. I couldn't do that with the Carvin cabs, no matter how much I twiddled the knobs. It was like "that's the sound you're getting and that's it". It felt stiff as a board, the first time that I've ever felt that from my Marshall. Everytime I hit the strings, it was like an icepick in my ears, even with the presence and treble at 0. I dunno. The guy that I played that cab from (he has two) says that his Carvin's sound better than my Bogner.....which is a joke. There's a world of difference there, IMO. But it wouldn't be fair of me to compare a cab like that to the Carvin.

The Vintage 30's that go into Mesa cabs are rated 10 watts higher than standard Vintage 30's.
  5. Originally posted by Sordid1 I have to disagree on this one. First of all the Marshalls come with the gt1275's and the Legacy cabs have the V30's which are identical to the Mesa cabs speakers. If you put a traditional Mesa cab next to a Carvin Legacy cab the differences should be slim to none. I disagree completely. Every Carvin Legacy cab that I've played sounds excessivly bright, farty and brittle. I A/B'd the Mesa 4x12 that I used to have with two of them that belong to a friend of mine, and there was no comparison at all. I like the fact that Carvin makes decent gear at an afforrdable price (I'm not an everything-Carvin-makes-sucks guy), but I hate their cabinets.
