So here is my setup for the sake of this post: Roland A800Pro with Audio Kit Synth One. Primarily used for pads.
here is my issue I need help with:
When I press the HOLD button in the app, I can press a key on the virtual keyboard and have it hold/sustain indefinitely, and can select and deselect various keys to start and stop their pitches. This works regardless of whether I press the HOLD button BEFORE or AFTER i press the key.
However! I have used the "MIDI Learn" function to assign a button on the A800 to activate the HOLD button. I have the button on the A800 set to "Latch" so it stays activated. BUT - if I press the assigned button on the A800 and press a key on the controller (in that order), the key does NOT sustain in the same way as doing the same order of operations on the app. Instead, if I press HOLD first, the keys on the keyboard simply do not work. I can, however, press a key and then press HOLD and it will sustain the note.
Oddly, is that if I use the button on the controller to activate the HOLD function, the virtual keys on the app work as expected, as though the HOLD button was pressed on the app.
Not sure how to get the SAME functionality from both the physical buttons and keys on the controller as it is within the app. I have a thought that maybe I might be missing something with the controller number or RPN, maybe somehow?
Any insights? Is it a limitation of the keyboard maybe? FWIW - I also have an M-Audio Axiom 61 I could use instead, if the functionality can be had through that controller easier or instead.
