I LOVE that sweet, sweet Martin sound that a GOOD D-18, or D-28 CAN produce. In the 80's I was looking for a Martin but found that the sound that I heard other artists put out with their Martins, that I came to expect, didn't come from JUST ANY Martin, be it D-18 OR D-28. I went through a couple of music stores' Martins before happening upon the right Martin, and it came from one specific Shenandoah.... the "El Cheap-O" model, the "Japanese" model? It was a particular joy to hear this gorgeous sound coming from the Martin that was priced at about half of the D-28 (about $700). The snobby-elitists may scoff at this model, but the real bottom line is that my Shenandoah (the particular guitar that I have) will match the pricier models in sound quality AND play-ability. With ANY guitar, particularly acoustic guitars, what REALLY matters is, "Are you getting the sound and ease of play you really desire and deserve?
