  1. NO WAY !!! I'm 36 now and still love METAL !!! I had my jazz-snobbery phase about 10 years ago, when I thought jazz was the only ,usic, but I grew up and now I still love jazz but Metal just the same!
  2. This is a bunch of riffs I have been working on the past months. I know the playing still needs to be tighter, drum programming and mix still need tons of work, too. (and of course, I still need to add leads and some more riffs) Tell me what you think. I always appreciate constructive criticism. here's the clip: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=945046&songID=9327764 Thanks, Lars
  3. Hi, I recorded a few metal riffs I had come up with already some time ago. Initially I wanted to play this at 200 BPM, but my right hand wouldn't let me, so I had to settle for 190BPM. I still think this would sound a lot better at 200BPM, but I will have to work my right hand up to that speed first..... I know the drum programming still needs a lot of work (it's way too busy in some spots), and so does the mixing. I'd appreciate any feedback on how to improve the mix/sound/or anything else. Still a recording noob, so bear with me.... Here's the link: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=945046&songID=8390689 Thanks, Lars
  4. http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/nate23/ Looking for some feedback on my tone. It's just a test. Any advice on improving it is appreciated. Both guitar tracks were double tracked and panned hard left and right. Sounds really nice! What did you use to record this? I suppose it is a modeling software? The one thing I miss is a bass in the mix. But this really sounds very good to me Also cool riffs/ideas!
  5. Even with a retial version, you are not legally allowed to install it on more than one PC at a time. Retail is supposed to let you install it on a new PC (and I'm guessing your not supposes to use the old one anymore?) As for the differences and legalites, they seem to be up in the air. You can read thru some of these posts or research more for yourself, cause in the end you'll have to make the decision, but I would go OEM. http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6142_102-0.html?forumID=5&threadID=131703&start=0 OK ! Thanks a lot !
  6. In the end, the only difference will be that the Retial Version comes in a nice fancy colored box (for about $100 more), and the OEM version comes in a bubble wrapped envelope with just the CD and the key. But what's the difference in terms of licensing then? Could I run a retail version on multiple machines at the same time?
  7. Thats what its 'supposed' to be legally. OEM is what you get when you buy a PC from a vendor with the OS already on it. But I know many of people who have re-installed it and installed it on seperate machines. Sometimes it will just need to be authorized over the phone, in which you just tell them you installed a new motherboard or are just re-installing it. From what I've heard, they aren't ball breakers when it comes to this. Though I wouldn't go around installing it on all your buddies PC's. But you could always be safe and buy the retail version, but its way over priced. Might want to look around for a better price then what I found. Thanks ! Sorry, I'm still a bit confused about the differenct of an OEM version and a retail version?
  8. ^^ XP is still sold, and you can buy an OEM version for about $90. If you ever have a problem with licesnsing it when installing it again or on another PC, you just call the number it tells you too and they authorize it (never heard from anyone who they didn't authorize it for). You just tell them your reinstalling XP. It's cheaper than the retail version which goes for about $190 still. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116056 Thanks ! This is good news for me then ! So, maybe I better hurry up ang get it even if I don't have my new PC yet, as long as XP is still sold. Does OEM mean I can only run it on one machine?
  9. I'm pretty sure that you cant have it running on two machine's. I don't even think you can remove it from one PC and move it to another. (You should call Microsoft with this. I may be wrong) My sister bought two of the same laptops for her kids. One got screwed up and I had to re-install Windows. She brought the PC and the install disc over and when I went to enter the serial#, found that I had the wrong disc. I called her and had her read the serial# off of the other PC and the install went fine. After a week Windows wouldn't load saying that it was an invalid copy. I had to re-install using the proper disc. This was with Vista but I have a feeling the same would happen with XP. I would buy yourself a copy of XP while the gettin' is good. It's worth the $$ not to have to use Vista. Mike Ok, Thanks ! But is XP still sold at all? I really woiuld not mind buying it but I don't know if I can still get it?
  10. I have a topic-related question: I have XP on my old PC, but I want to have a new PC built for me soon. Will I have any licensing issues if I install my XP also on my new PC then? (So, it would be running on two PC's) I still do have the CD with XP on it.
