Another point to consider is that the slight benefit you might get from tracking/mixing at 48 will probably be outweighed by the problems inherent in the resampling process if you're mastering yourself. Your sweet sounding mix at 48 may or may not sound the same when resampled to 44.1 on your own system. Do a few tests before you make up your mind....

The difference in audio quality is imperceptible and your waveforms will go to disc without having to be resampled at the lower rate. Use 44.1/24 bit and dither to 16 bit when mastering
