  1. I currently have a VH100R (basically the GH100L with a switchable clean channel) and a '78 JMP (basically the same as an early JCM800 2204) and think the Laney sounds somewhat Marshally and yet different. I like running a boost in front of each and think they're both great amps and probably would complement each other very well. I'm pretty sure Mastodon used to run that type of setup.
  2. Agreed. Sometimes a band...like (I think) Between The Buried and Me....really captures me.....until the cookie gurgling comes in...and I lose all interest. *FOR ME*...there's nothing musical or musically interesting about it at all. I get the feeling these bands often do it because they can't sing. :phil:
  3. I love heavy music, as always, but I can't get into growling vocals or lyrics that go along with a lot of that, and I get bored of music and bands with songs that have little dynamic difference and sound too similar. I can pop in almost any heavy disc and like it to some degree, but to keep listening to it there's got to be something different or very kickass about it. Get rid of Cookie (with a few exceptions) in favor of powerful vocals with a good dynamic range -- without sounding cheesy -- and a lot of that music suddenly sounds a lot more worth listening to IMO.
  4. You obviously haven't played or heard the right compressor then because none of my guitar's character or pick attack is altered or lost with the comp I use. I find it laughable that all of you guys who say you don't like compression use high gain dirt boxes. If you don't think you're using compression already, you need to pass the pipe. And I'm pretty sure Eric Johnson uses a compressor but doesn't need one as any kind of crutch. /thread]
  5. Sorry it took so long to deal with the loiking character, guys. I have to sleep sometime. Hopefully his attitude will be adjusted when he gets back in 6 months. I suspect noone will miss him in the meantime. Tu Be, sorry to hear about the divorce crap. I really don't want to even fathom being in your shoes. Agreed. From reading some posts from before he and his wife were even separated it seems his wife has always been ready to jump at chances to gratify herself without taking her own family at all into consideration.
  6. but he drinks, "real", "manly" beers... LMAO~! I was drinking Everclear as a teen, but all the proved was that I was able to get utterly trashed and do rediculously stupid $hit at a young age, which I guess is what he's doing right now, as well.
  7. Think you're a big man coz you drink a lot huh? Here's a bit of news for you... there's nothing cool about that at all. Nor is there anything cool about your bull{censored} attitude. So you're too far away to meet any of the other guys... how about a "fellow" Aussie then huh? You're slingin' {censored} at the wrong people at the wrong time. If this is all you have to contribute to this thread and this forum, kindly {censored} off. + 1. I don't know what's up with some people lately. But well said.
  8. mojo sent man. thats so terrible. give it a little bit of time. maybe she'll realize what kind of position that this is putting you and the kids into. What's sad is some "parents" will use their kids any way possible to mess with their ex. I hope that isn't the case here, though. Maybe she won't even be able to make it into the air force or would drop during whatever type of boot camp they have. Sorry to hear the situation TU BE, and I hope things go okay for you to be able to see your kids.

But I'd say # 2 is the correct choice -- at least for some of the mods, if not all.

  13. Originally posted by Markdude I think having to check 2 boards would be a lot more convenient than having to sift through huge threads. Like I said earlier, at least if you were searching for a specific thing, you could find a thread about it instead of having to go through multiple pages of a huge thread to find your search string. Phil, I think a lot more business would get done without stickies because the majority of people interested in making deals here don't even bother with the hassle of looking through them. I like individual spam threads, but I also have little problem checking the sticky one. I'm not sure that it's common knowledge that the posts per page can be set to 100, and until I found that out I used to avoid reading the huge threads except for about the first and last pages. Now it's a lot easier, and the spam threads are fairly easy, too. Still, sometimes I don't think about deals unless I see a specific thread pop up about a particular amp, pedal, etc. for sale. I see most spam threads leave the forum pretty fast, but those that don't are usually pretty interesting for one reason or another, and often other material gets into spam threads, sometimes educational. I could see spam threads being a problem if they took up most of the front page, but I never see that -- or at least that last hardly any amount of time. The only problem I can see is corporations wondering about spam as mentioned, but then it should be obvious that there's a major difference between individuals spamming and major companies spamming. Their spam belongs in the ads at the top of the page, in some of the reviews sections, etc.. Just my opinion, and it's not going to kill me to see no unstickied spams; still, I think it adds something to the forum; not really that big a deal to me, though.

You gotta be a douchebag to press that button Originally posted by iplayloudly lets make a girlie section + 1 to both. Over time, I've seen a few people post things in a moniker-suicide post/thread that actually seem to merit banning, but I'd never report anybody for anything I can think of, though maybe something would come up I haven't ever thought of. Even then, I'd never report anyone, and it seems that people on the forum have a good way of dealing with things and shouldn't require a mod unless it's a thread with porn that a lot of posters will have no problem with. And having a girlie section would save the time of doing a search for "Friday" or "Girlie."

Pawns in my area suck for selling musical gear to. I only got offered $100 at most for my nice Ibanez S470 model. They usually just look at a guitar and say, "Oh; it's a Squier/Ibanez/Epiphone, etc...," and then, regardless of model, look at the going rate for the cheapest models of each on sale though Musician's Friend and then deduce a percentage off that, for example. Props, though, for not intending to do the same thing. Again, I don't think the guy deserves that guitar back, but I'm usually pretty careful when it comes to covering myself legally. And even then, I kinda' have concerns about a type of "karma," myself due to going through a lot of problems after being a problem some years ago.
