  1. Good news! But I was hoping the dumbasses were dumb enough to post a NGD with the goods.
  2. Back... I ended up getting it. Condition is rough as this was a daily player and gigged, but the playability is good and the guitar is complete and structurally solid. Will work on it some over the next few days and get some pics up. Thanks again for the heads up... I have wanted to try out one of these for years and now I own one! Awesome cool story bro. Plus you didbn't have to pay extra for a Custom Shop relic.
  3. A BC Rich STI USA Custom on Ebay this week. I was the highest bidder up until the last 30 seconds and almost won it for $300. But I am not a fan of Strats, so I would have flipped it anyway. Almost bought an Ibanez doubleneck before I pulled the trigger on my Bich. So glad I changed my mind and went for choice over nostalgia. I don't really want to limit myself to the late 60's with my gear...I much prefer to limit myself to the late80's.
  4. Okay, that's the coolest Kelly ever in life. Cheers!
  5. Nope no deal breaker for me. Like some have said most bands now are using in ears and most cabs are dummies. And most still have a backline rig. Fact. (we're still talking rock&roll right? good)
  6. I saw Robert Plant last year. Buddy Miller did have a pair of Swarts on stage, mic'd, but no stacks. Yes had a pair of Line 6 combos and Styx had a wall of fake Marshalls. No real stacks anywhere. PA systems have made them irrelevant, methinks. EG Backline companies are still making dough renting out stacks, so I would say no. The festival circut is alive and well (crosses fingers for 2012 season to crank up).
  7. I tried to play direct though my powered wedge and a digital modeler and the experience was so flat it convinced me to go back to tubes. I'm building a stack as we speak... ...but I love Animals as Leaders and their stage is empty save Axe-FX and wedges. And they sound great. I can appreciate things others do I don't want to do...like going to Vegas.
  8. What was I thinking in 1985? 1985? Probably music videos/skateboards/arcade games/heavy metal/girls/neon/weed/video rentals/nuclear war/Apple II Basically the same {censored} you think about today, only with brighter colours and daydreams instead of internet.
  9. In a certain mood, Crue on the radio makes me happy. I am not capable of a state of mind that can enjoy the bad Metallica. This is sort of what inspired the thread. Also, my band could play a Crue cover (even tounge- in- cheek...edit: ONLY tounge-in-cheek) and not miss a beat. I think the only Metallica song I've ever played and was taken seriously was Battery.
  10. I think you're acting (but you're not) man did you actually see that movie? See it? I was practically raised by Night Flight and Electric Blue.
  11. dumb poll. Thank you. If I had made a deep, lofty and philisophocal thread about a sellout hair metal band vs. a sellout thrash band about who sucks least, I would be a special kind of fool. As it stands, I'm just a regular kind of fool. And thems not bad pickins.
  12. All pretty much rock guys. Ergo no Chet Adkins , Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Carlos Montoya, John McLaughlin or Tony Rice, just to name a few. McLaughlin is no. 49...BUT...this list makes me think of two things: "politics" and "toilet paper". Guess which one we could essentially do without?
  13. You actually thought Motley Crue peaked with Girls, Girls, Girls? Too Fast For Love and Shout At The Devil, man... Let's put it like this...after Girls, Girls, Girls...Crue became unlistenable so I couldn't tell you much more. I blacked out. My mind went blank. Probably some kind of post-traumatic failsafe. The band was a sucky lipstick L.A. Metal band before that, so it's not like Home Sweet Home was a downgrade. In fact, it was one of their better albums production/songwriting/performance wise. I think Bob Rock is to blame for the peak/demise of both groups ironically... Same with Metallica. In my mind, they just broke up after the Black Album and stopped making records. Right? Spoons are starting to sound pretty good right about now.
  14. But, 3/4 of sucky Metallica were "real" Metallica. Since there never was a "good" Motley Crue, sucky Metallica wins by default. I still voted Spoonman, though. "that'll be twenny cents!"
