  1. Most employees of stores like that are miserable. They believe themselves to be days away from signing a major recording contracts, but are forced to sell picks in the meantime. Also, their band is better than yours.
  2. LD Systems Maui11 G2. 1000 watts, Bluetooth “EQ” (if you’re generous with the term.) Used about 2 hours in a non-smoking room. I planned to start playing out in a duo and it fell through. I’ve changed my mind about playing and need it gone. retails for $999. My price is a firm $650 plus actual shipping. Stock photo.
  3. I know I’m way late to this party, but does anybody else think it looks like he is flipping us the two-handed bird?
  4. As it turns out, I agree. And I thought the effects from the Tonewood Amp were not good. The sound was very thin, and even though it says that they have several different sounds, it’s mostly reverb, with a few little tweaks for each.
  5. I hope this is allowed here, since the To Ewoks amp is solely for acoustic guitar. so I watched the hype for a good while and finally pulled the trigger. I spent a lot of time trying to get the best sound I could put of it, but it was not good. I played with it for a month or so, ignored it for the next three months, and then sold it. I’m interested to hear any opinions this group may have.
  6. I have about 900 sq ft of wall that needs soundproofing. I don’t want to spend the several hunge it would cost to put up professional sound absorption squares. The good ones are expensive and the cheap ones are useless. I bought 4 thick material moving blankets that I hope will help. This is a home studio for rehearsal and some basic recording. I’m old and not looking to be discovered. So it need not be pro stuff have you all used anything else that worked for you?
  7. Thanks guys for the advice. A couple days ago I ordered the LD Systems Maui11 g2
  8. Thanks to all for the great advice and suggestions. I THINK I have it narrowed down to the Maui 11 G2, or the Bose L1 Pro 8. All things being equal, I would most likely buy the Bose, but I can’t be sure that the Bose will be loud enough cover 60-100 people sitting on a restaurant patio. the specs say it produces a max of 118dB to the Maui’s 124, but who knows whether that is accurate or not.
  9. I gave up gigging a few years ago because I was burned out, but partly because set up and tear down took so much time. I’m lazy and like to get to bed before 3am. The column is awfully seductive to me. Still, I don’t want to have to sell an insufficient stick and get a more traditional set up later. I’d prefer to do this once.
  10. Thanks! I talked with salesmen at Sweetwater and MF, and both told me I needed 2 of those to reach 100 people in close setting outdoors. I realize I need more outdoors (restaurant patio or winery type venue,) but I didn’t think I needed two. Riley, what sold the ip 2000 to you? I think the wattage on the ip1000 is the same, and the spl on the 2000 is just a few decibels above the 1000. I should add, we are two guitars and two voices.
  11. I am posting this here, because I will be half of an acoustic duo, playing restaurants, restaurant, bar, and winery outdoor patios. Id prefer to spend under $1000 on a PA system. I have made myself dizzy looking at every column array or small traditional PA. I’ve asked two of the online stores about various array systems, with a peak wattage of 800-1400 watts. The salespeople at both stores told me I would probably need 2 (!) of them. What do you think? Why would I need two? Small traditional PAs, mixer and two speakers on a stick, wattage seems to be from 400-600watts. for an outdoor event with 100 people, what would you use?
  12. I was a sort of regular here a few years ago. I lurked a lot more than I posted. Glad to be back. I mostly play a Martin OME Cherry or a Breedlove Solo Nylon hybrid. Looking for a portable PA system and hopefully another player to do some gigs in or around Louisville KY. Looking for any and all suggestions on which portable PA. Looking at a Turbosound iP1000 and a few others.
  13. General motors, IBM, Underwood Typewriter Company, and Rock-Ola jukebox all made M1 carbines during ww2. I agree with Ellen. Start with a good, solid wood guitar first (whatever she likes) and go from there. The signal chain depends on the venue imo. I have a fishman mini loudbox that I gig with for intimate gigs at small clubs (nice and small/light). On a large stage in front of a bit crowd I either mic it (solo) or use a Baggs M1 and an EQ stomp box.. There are so many choices now that there is something for everyone. I knew that. I tried to make the point that yamaha makes whatever it makes to be of decent quality. As usual, I failed to make it clearly. I also noticed that I posted a link to yamaha sailboats in another thread...
  14. buying an acoustic guitar from Fender is like buying a sailboat from General Motors. This will surprise NOBODY: yamaha made an excellent sailboat for a while in the 80s.
  15. This thread should be stickied, by the way. Great idea.
