  1. He is an Yngwie clone for sure, but on the upside , he's a pretty good teacher and he's a super nice guy. I met him at the Boston Guitar show last fall and he was really pretty cool to shoot the {censored} with. Ive heard that myself, especially the teaching. I cant say that Im a huge fan of his music but I have heard some things that I dig..
  2. nope, but I sho enuff remember Night Train Ripple!!! a dolla fitty a bottle and it gots you stoopified yo!!!
  3. I envy you guys...If I had the money to retire right now, Id go back to school for the sake of it. there is so much cool stuff to learn out there!!!

I guess its like anything, There will be people that dig what he does and people who dont. Personally , I think that the kid should play what he wants as opposed to what others want, that what I do...
  6. Originally posted by guitar shmoe yea, my hat's off to the kid for trying to 'shred'...I just don't know where he is going to find work (playing guitar) in a few years when he gets all his notes together... Maybe its about fun and personal enjoyment instead of making a living? That said, there are plenty of guys out there that can shredd their asses off but do other things on guitar to find work
  7. Originally posted by guitar shmoe I think this is a different 'type' of 'music' altogether....guys from my generation (ie: me... ) have a hard time 'understanding this type of playing...it seems to come off more like a 'carnival act' than anything 'moving or creative'....spitting out notes and ghost notes like they mean nothing...12 notes per nanosecond...seems pointless to me I can truly appreciate someone that can make this 'style' work....this kid, although (arguably) 'good' for his age...isn't close to making all those notes 'work' yet...obviously, there are guys on this forum that have a GREAT appreciation for this style... I (admittedly) don't get it.. Im not sure what your generation is Shmoe, Im in my 40's and While I dont listen to stuff like this on a regular basis, I definitely listen to things like it often enough. This kid has the benefit of youth and has his whole life ahead of him to gain some of the finer points of playing like Vibrato and bends that separate the men from the boys. There are players out there that have alot more years under their belts and cant get the technique down so they stick to the slowhand way of things which is more than OK. Chops are tools to accomplish whatever it is that you want to do musically. Obviously, some forms of music are more technically demanding. If you dont dig what hes doing, thats great but dont write him off because this isnt your thing. Contrary to what other may say, its possible to have lightning fast passages that are full of feeling and passion. Id have been as equally impressed if he played all of Voodoo Child. the fact that such a young player takes the initiative to learn a challenging piece( Even if he doesnt do it perfectly) shows a lot of promise and I commend him for it... Give him time, As he develops his ear and ability, Its only natural that he'll begin to appreciate the subtle nuances that make good musicians into great musicians,,, Kage Kage
  8. My hats off to the kid!! He took the time to learn a piece( and a pretty challenging one at that) all the way through and while he has a ways to go, youve got give him props for doing a decent job Kage
  9. Originally posted by sah5150 While I can't say I didn't appreciate some of what MM was trying to point out in that movie, the "creative editing" borders on outrageous. At one point, he has a clip of Rice saying something and then cuts away before she finishes, although she pauses so it appears legit. It made her look really bad and if you hear the full clip of what she said, it is the exact opposite of what Moore makes you believe in the movie. Total bull{censored} IMO... Steve exactly where Im coming from Steve, the truth should be able to stand on its own merit.... I guess MM and Mark Furman have alot in common;)
  10. Originally posted by Z0S0 Anti-American 'cause he shows the truth? If it really was the truth, he wouldnt need to spin, edit and do otherwise to show it. Im not saying that hes fabricating but Come on, MM's tactics are well documented and debunked...

Lets start burning books that we dont like either. True dat but do you think that its right that something like that be required or forced on someone in the public School System?

  13. Originally posted by the russ You guys clearly have no knowledge of how Moore works and are really just talking out of your ass. and you do?
  14. Originally posted by the russ Moore is a take-his-lumps kind of guy. Even if the case goes to trial, he knows the court will come up with a much smaller judgement even if he loses. To save face, he'd shell out the cash. I won't be eating those words, and you can quote me on that. He'll settle...
  15. I smoked Cigs for 30 years and now I have Brain and Lung Cancer, time to sue....
