1. Why are there no Buddhist blues guitar players? Taj Mahal? :poke: Yes, it's a joke

Django Reinhardt AND Peter Brotzmann/Derek Bailey. I approve.
3. A lot of people also call the Gipsy Kings "flamenco," which they are not. Catalan Rumba. A bit of trivia: the Gyspy Kings are actually French. There is a big community of Kalo gypsies in the South of France between Perpignan and Arles (this is also the area of France with a Spanish-style bullfighting tradition). Catalan Rumba is their music, and what you will hear every day in the streets.
4. BTW, I suppose that all you need to do to please your family is to get the names of a few popular Mexican songs (Cielito Lindo, Besame Mucho... and more modern ones), and just learn the chords so that you can back them up as they sing.
5. There is definitely is a difference between the two: (random vids: no soundcard on this computer) And of course there is more to Mexican music than just Mariachi music. And more to Spanish music than just Flamenco. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Mexico http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_spain

3 guitar: 2 selmer copies, one archtop - 3 solid tops - 2 laminated back/sides (selmer copies), one solid back/sides (archtop). And I have signatures turned off.

2 rosewood (Selmer-style) 1 Maple (archtop) 1 Mahogany (Selmer-style) And historically, 1 more mahogany (nylon string), and 1 rosewood (steel string), but they're now gone. Rosewood wins.

and, at one point, I had the pinless bridge replaced w/ a pin-bridge (all that was in stock)...did change the unplugged sound somewhat, in that it had more sustain and a bit more bottom. It's only because of the different weights!

Under why more companies don't adopt this design. I mean during the manufacturing process wouldn't it save time and materials? IIRC earlier discussions on this topic with Gary Palmer, it's actually the opposite: pinned-bridges are easier (and cheaper) to manufacture.

In all seriousness, though... although I am not a fan of bridge pins (I find them unpractical and ugly), all the steel string flat tops I've ever owned had bridge pins. Proof that pinless vs. pinned bridge is only a minor concern when I select a guitar.

My household is 100% bridge pin-free.
12. ^ I've played some Bernabes a few months ago (M-5 and M-10, did not dare to go further up the range) and was really impressed. Possibly my next nylon string...
